I do have an iPhone but I just like pen and paper, is anyone the same?

I use a paper diary. Whenever I put an appointment in my iPhone calendar it seems to end up in the wrong place!

Mariposista · 01/07/2022 22:08

I got my filofax the year I went to university. 14 years on and still love it!

ScarlettSunset · 01/07/2022 22:12

I love a paper planner. I tried a bullet journal too so I could make it really personal but then realised I'm actually pretty lazy so have gone back to the ready made planners and pages.

EdwinsActsOfKindness · 01/07/2022 22:16

We have a family wall calendar in the kitchen.

I used to use a Filofax but recently discovered and went over to a digital planner in the GoodNotes app on my iPad. I write in it (with the Apple Pencil) and can doodle / add stickers etc. I’m still learning it but like I can check what’s in it on my phone if I need to.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 01/07/2022 22:16

Yes I still use a bullet journal (usually a cheapo LIDL A5 squared notebook). I remember when we used to have regular Bullet journal threads on MN. As I recall a few people were baffled by us talking about BJs all the time.

?

@JoolsHoneybee Yes,during the first Covid lockdown I started keeping daily notes in the one place, which I hadn't done previously. The only diary I had stuck to prior to that was my work one,but since retirement all that organisation had gone to pot.I have now got back into the record-keeping habit again though and keep everything in the one place.I write everything down these days as I really can't trust my memory!

Like a PP,I love pretty stationery and I'm like a kid in a sweet shop when I come across a range of notebooks and jotters, etc😁

Yes. I use a Plum Paper planner.

I use Plum Paper too. I keep a digital calendar for work on my laptop and phone, but I also use the paper planner; I find it helps me remember things better, and I like the paper planner for making lists and keeping track of all sorts of information. I like Plum Paper because it is customizable, including the binding (I like discbound.)

MissMarplesNiece · 01/07/2022 22:35

I've tried so many different apps for to do lists etc but abandon them after a few weeks and go back to using notebooks & paper planners.

I'm a pencil fan too, but it has to be a sharp Faber Castell 9000 B pencil.

Does anyone combine a work and home planner? I always keep mine separate but it's not always helpful having eg "meeting 5pm" in one place and "swimming lessons 6pm" in another place, as I then don't always join the dots!

I use mine for both as I have time slots from 6am up until about midnight and so I plan in pretty much everything

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/07/2022 08:09

I've used a filofax since I was 18 and I'm over 50 now. Currently have a beautiful cerise pink leather one that makes me happy every time I look at it.

InChocolateWeTrust · 02/07/2022 08:10

No. I have a really good memory though. I often dont need to record when appointments etc are, I just remember.

I wish the same level of memory had applied to a-level chemistry but alas no....

PoorMegHopkins · 02/07/2022 08:14

Happy Planner. I really dislike the cutesy inspirational quotes etc but the ring bound system is so useful as I can move things about.

CecilyP · 02/07/2022 08:29

I use an A5 diary that fits in my handbag. I tried a Filofax but found it too fiddly and bulky. Anything I want to keep from the previous year, I cut out with a scalpel and pritt-stick in my new diary.

balalake · 02/07/2022 08:48

I have one but not used for about 20 years, must be in a drawer or cupboard somewhere.

Until sight loss stopped him using it, my late father had one for about 50 years. He would love this thread were he alive today.

itsgettingweird · 02/07/2022 08:52

I use notebooks for everything.

I have about 5.

1 for shopping lists.
1 for ds sport
1 for household stuff
1 for general lists
And a diary for apts!!!!

familyissues12345 · 02/07/2022 09:07

Funnily enough I've been thinking of buying one as I've just started a new job, so here for the recommendations!

I've had my Filofax since the (Yuppy) '80's - wouldn't be without it!

ps I had a Golf Gti in the '80's too! 🤣🤣

I even went on a training day on how to use it!

Still use one to this day, but not the original one.

LaChatte · 02/07/2022 10:05

I've tried bullet journals but they take too much time to get the layout pretty enough for my liking 😅.

I usually use a teacher planner that I buy each year but this year I made my own using the Happy Planner system (bought my own hole puncher and created my planner with PowerPoint). It's been great but we've now been banned from printing stuff in colour at work.

DD has just bought herself an iPad so I made a quick planner using PowerPoint to have a go using OneNote, I'm now saving up to buy myself an iPad 😂.

LaChatte · 02/07/2022 10:07

I'm also a stationery addict, so it'll be a cold day in hell before I give up my pens and paper though 😁

Fairislefandango · 02/07/2022 12:50

Does anyone combine a work and home planner?

I can't really. I'm a teacher (starting full time in September after a long hiatus) and I will have a teacher's planner with lesson plans, kids' marks etc. Not room for all that in my bullet journal and anyway it wouldn't work well because of what I'd need/want to show other people vs what would need to be confidential!

It makes me wonder how much I'll really use my bullet journal from September though. I've worked as a self-employed, peripatetic and supply teacher for some years, and scheduled all my teaching slots in the journal, (lesson plans done on my laptop).

Lots of teachers do all their planning and recording of marks digitally now, but I'm hoping some at my new school still use planners! Dh thinks I'm a dinosaur Grin

BigFatLiar · 02/07/2022 16:13

I was sent on a day course for FranklinCovey, the planner is so bulky but I got used to it. Refills are expensive since filofax ones don't fit. OH buys new diary parts each year, my not so surprising Santa present.

Like everything it takes time to get into the habit of using it but now it's second nature.

bridgetreilly · 02/07/2022 16:20

@ToooOldForThis I have separate work/life planners but ALL timed appointments go in my life planner, monthly section. Then each week I make a note of those in both work and home planners as I plan out my days. I use the un|bound bound planner for general use and the STM productive weeks planner for work. It works really well for me,

Gufo · 02/07/2022 16:49

Leuchtturm 1917 messy bullet journal for home, and a Busy B page a day academic diary for work.

WITL · 02/07/2022 16:52

StopDrivingIntoMyFence · 01/07/2022 14:49

I currently use three. I'm a Filofax addict. My favourite is Kingfisher Malden A5.
