To think of running a festival/retreat for women who have just had enough?!

A weekend in the early summer, before the schools break up.
Somewhere easy to get to by train, but in the countryside somewhere beautiful, a really relaxed hotel or other retreat building.
come with a group of friends or book a blissful room to yourself - baths in all rooms.
Some lovely lounges to relax with a book, chat to other women, play board games with great tea and coffee on tap
Great food but really relaxed and easy going
Wild swimming, walks and guided runs
a gym
Very optional talks, yoga, pilates, crafts, skills you can book on to if you want.
Arrive from Friday lunchtime, leave sometime on Sunday afternoon.
Can be badged as mandatory work training if it’s hard to get away.
Who’s in? And what else would you want or need?

How about any of us attending who has an interest could do a talk or a class.

I'm a BSL user, I know how to knit, crochet, tat, sew and I can talk about all of them. I can bring some materials, maybe we could nit a wooly hug?

I'll come to Crochet 101. I can run Public Speaking for People Who Hate It.

ohfook · 27/06/2022 06:40

I'm skint but if this was cheap I'd absolutely go!

EveningOverRooftops · 27/06/2022 06:41

No the ideal wouldn’t be hotel rooms it’d be a village of tiny houses all near a lake with a central block with all the mod cons etc.

the tiny houses would just have a decent bed, a snuggle chair, great big window view and a naice big bathtub and a view to bathe and see the trees.

they’d be perfectly well insulated and almost sound proof little houses, like sensory deprivation chambers.

you can properly switch off or go to the main block for art and games and food.

there’s plenty of marked routes for walking or a hike. A natural outdoor pool for cooler dips, a private beach nearby only guest can use…

BookWorm45 · 27/06/2022 06:54

Ohhh yes...

Cat lounge - tick. Books / readers welcome in a well-chosen small library. Comfortable chairs and sofas with the right sort of lighting (bright for reading, dim for relaxing). No noisy bathrooms / doors / neighbours / traffic and best of all, no demands.
A music room with various instruments to play / practice more quietly and also another music room with soundproofed walls to play / perform REALLY LOUDLY.

When can we go !

Stevienickssnickers · 27/06/2022 06:56

Can there be a screaming into the void session? Just to let out some of that pent up rage.

easyday · 27/06/2022 07:09

Sure there are plenty of these already.

Sign me up. I'd like a fillet steak, rare, followed by the creamiest chocolatiest éclair ever and some time with the cats. I hope there's a duck pond too, where we can feed the ducks bread healthy duck food. I guess the cats had better be strictly indoor cats!

Also each mini house has to have excellent air conditioning so we can all set the temperature to exactly what we want.

BrioNotBiro · 27/06/2022 09:20

I fancy a spot of goat yoga please.

peridito · 27/06/2022 09:27

Yes please ! More than one a year I reckon .Yurts available in the garden .

Imabouttoexplode · 27/06/2022 09:34

Leanne B.
A .rown (ex Cheshire housewives and a footballers ex) runs these kind of retreats. You can book to go on them but be warned, it's all mumbo jumbo bullshit about femail empowerment/higher vibrations/bosslady/MLM nonsense.

Also in, both pre and post school holidays. Veggie, low alcohol and beautiful scenery plus pools and decent beds. Quiet...

Twizbe · 27/06/2022 09:45

Great idea.

A few years ago I had a 'mumcation' for my birthday. 2 nights away with no children. 1 night by myself and the other with DH.

It was bliss. I loved it.

I really want to do a yoga retreat, but as much as I love the exercise im not fully signed up to the lifestyle part of it. I ideally want a retreat where I can still eat meat ... not found one yet.

Can we have a special weekend for infertile/childless women (or indeed childfree women) where talk of babies, kids, pregnancy or ttc is comprehensively banned? Could do with one of those…

When going through infertility this would have been amazing. Especially when I was at the acceptance stage of the journey.

BouncyBalls · 27/06/2022 09:52

Could we make it a week? 😆

TheHuntingoftheSnark · 27/06/2022 10:07

Hey All!
Wow - clearly taped a need here. I don't think I will ever have time to organise this but if I do, you can leave your email here if you'd like to hear about it:

hope this is OK MumsnetHQ

No WiFi
Vegan. Whole food.
Minimal booze policy

I think "women who've had enough" need to be able to eat what they like and have a drink or two without being judged.

Can we also have optional cinema nights please, big projector, comfy sofas, snacks that you don't have to share with anyone and films that don't feature talking animals.

DH has just come back from 5 nights at Glastonbury and gone straight to bed because he's "exhausted". I have been juggling two small children (one doesn't sleep) with my most hellish week at work ever while he's been getting pissed in a field and he's "exhausted". If a place like this retreat actually existed then I would be seriously tempted to book it today because the alternative may be doing a murder!! 😠

Definitely sign me up for the nightly screaming into the void sessions a pp mentioned.

adorablecat · 27/06/2022 10:15

Fully soundproofed rooms, no children, no dogs, no hen parties, gin and mixers in every room. Steak night optional.

peachescariad · 27/06/2022 10:17

I'm in but must have wine

Please do this! I need this so bad in my life.

Trixiefirecracker · 27/06/2022 10:22

I already run women only workshops. Days in the woods round a campfire, connecting to nature and making lovely art out of natural/found items. Message me if you want any ideas!

stilldumdedumming · 27/06/2022 10:23

I go to one!!! It's bloody divine. Come and do what you want. Hang out or dont. Yoga or not. Walk if you fancy. Just back last weekend. No booze tho! And camping in the main.
