DH and I have been together 15 years, our sex life eventually fell into a lull but about 6 months ago we started role-playing and since then it's been like it was when we first got together. We're totally 'caught up' in each other all over again and our relationship has never been better.

However a couple of nights ago I was talking to two good friends and the topic of role play came up... I never even hinted that this has recently rejuvenated my life but the general response within the conversation was my friends both laughing/mocking it. One even said it's only for 'deviants and weirdos'.

AIBU to say it's actually way more 'normal' and regular? Or am I unknowingly a sexual deviant? 😂

Omg, I keep trying to persuade my other half to do Outlander...he's resisting so far though! It's the Scottish accent and the kilt that's stopping him though, not the role playing.

Not gonna lie I was hoping for Mrs Slocombe and Mr Humphries. Oh well if Outlander floats your boat, each to their own…..

I’m pretty reserved but role playing was in my family one episode so I would have thought that was pretty mainstream and hardly risqué. I also think laughing with your partner is one of the best things for emotional connection.

Perverted seems the wrong word, but I don't think it's actually all that common. I remember having a few conversations with friends back when I was younger, who had tried it, and they pretty universally felt like it was silly rather than sexy.

I'd say it's considered very mainstream, at this point. I'd far, FAR rather roleplay than do some of the other things that are apparently "normal" these days!

my ex wanted to rope play or just dress up in costumes but I told him I would end up laughing. That hurt his feelings. 😂. But I’m pretty vanilla, I don’t do lingerie or any of that stuff either.
