Some hairdresser do what they want not what you want - its so annoying.

Could you complain to the manager? Or was it the manager that cut your hair?

anorak · 15/01/2008 19:38

That's outrageous, I would have stopped them in their tracks. I hope you didn't pay?

Kimi · 15/01/2008 19:50

Your going to be mad at me Anorak but yes I paid

Did you say anything? Or did they when they saw the big tears plopping down your cheeks?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 15/01/2008 19:56

YANBU - I avoided hairdressers for years because of a traumatic incident like this. hope you did not tip her.
It will grow back.
And you have us.

Kimi · 15/01/2008 19:57

TBH I did not realise how short it was at first.
Also despite being a bit of a bi*ch I am scared of hairdressers

OP posts:
LowFat · 15/01/2008 19:58

YANBU another trauma survivor here who is only just getting used to going back to the HD after nearly 10 years...and solely because her DD needs haricuts.

AussieSim · 15/01/2008 20:00

I have had this happen to me a few times over the years and so what I do now with new hairdressers is measure my hair in front of them - counting how many fists I can get around my pony tail and then do it again at the end. I find that this makes them self-conscious enough to keep them honest.

Kimi · 15/01/2008 20:00

I know it will grow back, but I had spent 2 years growing it . I will get used to it but it really is short.

I usually take my sister with me who is very forceful and will say things like no no not like that.
I can't even tuck the side behind my ears.....

/ Kimi goes to sit in the dark and cry....

On the up side DH1 just brought me muffins.....

Then retreated!!

MrsTittleMouse · 15/01/2008 20:08

Sensible DH.
I had the same thing as a teenager - I wanted Demi Moore from Ghost, I got Blackadder the First. That took forever to grow out.
Hope you're enjoying your muffins.

staryatmonitoreyes · 15/01/2008 20:48

Well I wanted Catherine Zeta and got Pat Sharpe (from the 80's)

Just be brave phone and say you are not happy. You shouldn't have to pay for your misery. Get some balls girl!! Go on go on go on!

Jackstini · 15/01/2008 20:53

Take a ruler and hold it up to hair when you go. At first cut, pick up a chunk from the floor and check it, they soon get the idea.
When you find a hairdresser you can trust - treat her like gold, buy her birthday presents, bring wine at Christmas and tip well!
It is a horrid thing to happen and YANBU. Hair grows about 1/2" a month so this time next year will be back but it's still a long time

Kimi · 16/01/2008 07:27

Not really liking it any more this morning

OP posts:
SueBaroo · 16/01/2008 08:34

Oh, YANBU. Hair is such a personal thing.

jumpingbeans · 16/01/2008 08:46

Kimi · 16/01/2008 15:46

OP posts:
frootloop · 16/01/2008 16:31

yanbu at all, im sure baboons on ecstacy could do a better job than most of the hairdressers ive ever been to.

this thread brings back bad memories of my perfect fringe butchered by a crap hairdresser theres no hiding a shit fringe cut.

branflake81 · 16/01/2008 18:31

I once yelled "STOP!" in the hair dressers as I felt she had gone too far with the trimming. Got lots of funny looks but had the desired affect. YANBU, I know what it's like when all your carefully grown hair is callously chopped off.

Kimi · 17/01/2008 07:48

went out with my sister last night, who on seeing hair said, and I quote "well it's not awful"!!!!

It is going to take forever to grow back.

OP posts:
Jackstini · 17/01/2008 11:52

kimi - would you be brave enough to go back to the salon and get them to show you some different ways of styling it? (free of course!) If not, to save money try a local college and see if the trainee stylists can play around with it (no scissors!)
If money is no object (don't know you so no idea ) go for hair extensions...

MrsArchieTheInventor · 17/01/2008 12:05

I had exactly the same thing happen to me on Monday. I'm trying to grow my hair but it's freakishly thick so I need it razoring regularly. I said all this to the hairdresser and also that I wanted it neatening up at the back, i.e. the fluffy bits trimmed. My hair was about down to my ears from my crown but now it's about two inches long all over and still quite thick in patches, and what made me cry on Monday was that ds has recently taken a liking to twirling my hair absent mindedly when he's sitting on my knee and now he can't do that.

I paid (£26.95!!) but I didn't leave a tip and when she asked if I wanted to make another appointment I said no. I wish I could name the hairdressers on here but I can't.

southeastastra · 17/01/2008 12:08

oh kimi it will grow, it's always a shock at first but in two weeks it will be better!

my friend once had her long hair cut really short, it looked great but her 5 year old son wouldn't talk to her for a day he was so upset!
