*SPOILER ALERT* To think that Stranger Things is inappropriate for children / teens

My child wants to watch Stranger Things because all the other kids at school have watched it. From what I can see it features violence, sex, inappropriate language and very scary imagery. Surely parents shouldn’t be letting their young children and teens watch this!

14, lol, imagine at 14 telling your pals ur mum doesn't let you watch Stranger Things.
Totally suitable from 12+.
Depending on the child maybe younger.

There's no sex that I can remember.

I'd say it ok for ages 10 and up as long as they aren't too delicate. At 14, half his friends are having sex, never mind seeing it even if he isn't and it isn't that scary that I'd be worried about a teen watching it. No worse than Harry Potter in my mind. Most teens swear so that wouldn't be a consideration for me.

He’s 14 and we don’t let any of the kids have free control over the TV or Netflix etc normally so making an exception for this seems a bit out of line with how we parent

Bit precious not letting him watch it at 14.

I watched nightmare on elm Street and helleaiser at 13 on video when I used to stay around so can't see why not for older kids

You’re being ridiculous, OP: Stranger Things is absolutely fine for 14 YOs. There is a tiny bit of implied sex in S1, a total non issue, and the horror is all supernatural and monsters. The whole thing is wonderfully entertaining, plenty of humour.

We’ve just finished ST and looking forward to the next instalment in a few days. My DDs are 16 and 12, but we started watching ST when they were 14 and 10. Neither had a problem.

it’s funny some have mentioned A Nightmare on Elm Street. We watched it a few days ago. Jeez it was shit. Very dated, absolutely abysmal acting, and about as scary as watching grass grow. And Johnny Depp was too young to fancy, too.

We used to watch all manner of shit horror from about age 13. Whatever was in the video shop, basically. Most were disappointing but then teenagers' brains don't work the same way as adults. Things I find upsetting are shrugged off by ds.

Yes I think 14 is about right, my 16 year old loves it. Squid games though is a whole other thing from what i've read. I wouldn't really want him watching that.

Really? Is there a line? Squid games has less effect as you don't have several seasons. I think if your giving them choice just let them choose.
