Because how else can you explain the level of detachment from reality this man presents?

According to The Times “Boris Johnson planned to build a £150,000 treehouse in the grounds of Chequers but was forced to abandon the idea after the police raised security concerns.”

He seems very sure he'll be sticking around. Probably planning to change some laws to ensure he stays.

he's not sure at all. hence why he's blustering like this.

GreenLunchBox · 25/06/2022 23:25

Well they've brought in voter ID for the next election. Old people bus passes will be accepted but not young person rail cards. Poorer demographics are more likely to not have photo ID (and less likely to vote Tory)

They've taken over the Electoral Commission so it is no longer an independent regulator

They're changing constituency boundaries to their benefit

He could be there a long time.

I'm actively making plans to leave the UK as soon as possible. I can't take this shitshow much longer

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 25/06/2022 23:26

he's shitting himself over the by-election results.

I've started to ask myself if Eton is aware of the damage it has caused over the last 200 years or so. But they no, they probably don't.

Do you know when Eton was founded?

Or, indeed, when Fettes, Mr Blair's alma Mata was founded.

In other words there's no escaping from these guys. Get out now although they've blocked the easy escape routes through Brexit

MissyB1 · 27/06/2022 07:31

Remember you can move to Ireland as Brexit did not and can not affect that. I’m seriously starting to consider it.

idonthavetimeorhis · 27/06/2022 07:56

Is Boris from another planet? Yes, he's like something that comes from Uranus!

He is a populist figurehead, who has never actually had to govern. A series of national and global crises has meant he has continuously been able to hide his incompetence behind the cloak of 'bigger issues' such as Brexit, Coronavirus and finally (and perhaps most questionably) the war in Ukraine. Yet important domestic issues such as the escalating cost of living, the broken health and social care systems, the housing crisis and the problem (if there is a problem) with immigration, are either ignored or brushed aside with ridiculous headline grabbing proposals.

Once he stops being useful to the Party, he will be deposed and a 'sensible' person will be put in his place. The sensible person will strip us 'back to basics', promote 'austerity' and continue blaming 'feckless' people and immigrants for the mess the country is in.

So, whilst Boris may be a bit of a novelty, as far as politics foes, there is nothing new under this Sun.

Eton hasn't caused any damage - in their eyes. They have succeeded in dragging up people who have enabled groteque levels of wealth and shocking levels of poverty in a country that used to say it aspired to equality.

If that was their goal (and I believe it was) then they've done it.

There are not enough words to adequately describe how much I hate Johnson and his cronies but we need to look at the deeper roots here:

  • a country that still seems to want to elevate upper class idiots to positions of power despite them lacking any qualificiations for that position
  • misplaced trust in gentlemanly behaviour at the cost of proper legal checks and balances on those positions of power
  • terrifying levels of corruption throughout our government and press
  • divisive politics that cause people to overlook massive criminality and incompetance just because it's prefable to them than voting for a new colour

This too.

When you look at all the seemingly small steps the US took, leading to the effective ban of abortion in half the states - you start to see where all these small changes can take you.

Our rights are not guaranteed and I will welcome anyone fighting tooth and nail for them - because the last 20 years has shown me that there are always many people who are chomping at the bit to take them away again.

... and yet people have voted for this government.

They’re not voting for it much now. Two by elections lost on one day.

ilovesooty · 27/06/2022 08:51

He warns against "Ukraine fatigue". He means he's worried people might become disenchanted with his showing off abroad and expect him to be in this country sorting out the mess and doing his job.

MJF11235 · 06/07/2022 07:36

He scores very highly on the 'Hares psychopathy checklist': Narcissistic, sexual promiscuity, serial infidelity, womanizer, callous, pathological liar, excessively glib, lack of remorse or guilt, manipulative, parasitic lifestyle, irresponsibility...he checks most of the points on the checklist. I would simply call him what he is. A psychopath.

As many people in top positions in business or government.

Unfortunately being reckless and goal driven whatever the consequences is now a virtue, even celebrated by shows as The Apprentice, peddled by career gurus or supported by the masses who are happy to turn a blind eye to the chaos as long as they get what they want, whether this is Brexit, stopping immigration or having a blue passport.
