Because how else can you explain the level of detachment from reality this man presents?

According to The Times “Boris Johnson planned to build a £150,000 treehouse in the grounds of Chequers but was forced to abandon the idea after the police raised security concerns.”

His behaviour is similar to that of functioning alcoholics that I have known. Except they lied a lot less.

I could give my own armchair diagnosis of the pair of them (Mr J and Mrs J) and their folie a deux and I (a) agree with you, and (b) think that alcohol is possibly the least of their problems.

I think he is fantastic, by the time he is dragged out of office, the Tories might be a minority party.

Lol
Always seeing the silver lining in everything!

But sometimes I fear he will stay as PM forever! He seems to be impune to everything

RepublicOfNarnia · 25/06/2022 11:01

He is definitely a product of his upbringing. A lot of tories are: Cameron, Rees Mog. It's a very particular way of raising a person that is alien to most people.

He is from the planet of Eton bred self confidence, narcissism and misogyny IMO. Fair few about.

Yep it’s basically this 👆

Ylvamoon · 25/06/2022 11:08

... and yet people have voted for this government.

I know, I find it terrifying and depressing in equal measures.

No - to get here from another planet would involve intelligence, skill and some very effective teamwork, and while he certainly has the intelligence it's wasted on the wrong things

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 25/06/2022 11:36

The best thing would be for him to bumble his way through more lies and political disasters until the next general election.
Then the whole cabinet of greedy, sneering, corrupt , misogynistic, out of touch and lying would be kicked to touch and the party becomes a small minority party with a handful of seats in the corner of the chamber.

Where is your evidence for this intelligence?

Neverplayleapfrogwithaunicorn · 25/06/2022 11:47

I just read this story and felt nauseous! How can you be so blinkered to the issues your party has caused to your country, that you are planning on building a 150k treehouse In your garden when thousands of private renters are facing homelessness due to your inept policy changes and lack of social housing. As a private renter the future truly terrifies me!

UndertheEagle · 25/06/2022 12:02

He obviously hasn't learnt anything from wallpaper-gate as he wasn't even going to pay for it himself. Tory donor Lord Brownlow was being tapped up for it.

IncompleteSenten · 25/06/2022 12:05

He's from planet arrogant, privileged, selfish twat.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 25/06/2022 12:09

He's a lazy columnist who's been promoted far above his capabilities purely because he went to the right school and to the right university and has the plummy accent that a baffling number of Brits are in thrall to.

As far as I can tell his main skills seem to be ejaculation and egotism.

MalFunkshun · 25/06/2022 12:10

Agree with everything said, but on another point - is anyone else desperate to see the plans and construction materials required to make a treehouse cost that much?! I’d have raised my eyebrows at £10k, but for that much money it must have been the Taj Mahal on stilts, no?

GoldenOmber · 25/06/2022 12:12

It’s the least important point really, but wasn’t his son about six months old when he was planning to do this? Not exactly prime treehouse age.

Feel fairly baffled at the Tories who are shocked by all his behaviour though. He’s always been like this, what did you think you were getting? “Our Prime Minister is a lying incompetent with no principles and no ideology or loyalty to anyone or anything but himself!” Oh no really? If only there had been some clue, eh?

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 25/06/2022 12:14

A £150K treehouse would make Dave Cameron's £25,000 garden caravan seem positively frugal.

To wonder if Boris is from another planet?
TooBigForMyBoots · 25/06/2022 12:21

I think you're all being unfair, PM Johnson needs a treehouse for the children. They are very young and are going to be using Chequers for a long time as their father will soon be PM For Life.

UndertheEagle · 25/06/2022 12:25

Apparently it was the bullet proof glass that made it so expensive. I wish I was joking.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/06/2022 12:46

Where is your evidence for this intelligence?

Well, Eton and Oxford don't usually enrol idiots, but it's true that raw intelligence doesn't always confer practical ability or even common sense ... which is why I said Boris's has been used on the wrong things

ilovesooty · 25/06/2022 13:06

He's a narcissist and a sociopath. You only have to refer to his latest BBC interview to see that.

Yes I'd like to see him on a one way ticket to another planet.

notprincehamlet · 25/06/2022 13:09

stand him next to rees mogg and he looks quite the everyman

I think this is the absolute crux of the matter. Wilf was only 6 months old when the treehouse was being planned. The only explanation, given that Chequers isn’t his own home, is that Boris expects to have the use of it for many years to come. Which is terrifying and raises questions about why he would think that as there’s an election due in 2024 at the latest.
