I'll go first....

If you are feeling low, do something for someone else. Not because you have too, but because you can. I promise you will walk away feeling more inspired than you did before! Just be kind in life, it's so rewarding.

Stupidity does not absolve anybody from thinking! Very true.

Don't get married

Kitchen paper is better. Toilet paper only for small cleans as it disintegrates.

Yes, this. I've never joined because I knew it would be unpleasant/addictive/numbing.

I agree. I have deleted most of my social media accounts. But isn't Mumsnet also a form of social media? I noticed that I spend a lot of time here that I would have normally spent on Facebook.

Learn the art of hiding. It’s quite a difficult skill to master but invaluable, particularly at work. Of course, do your work but know how and when to make yourself invisible so you’re not a moving target. People get a lot of unwanted & unwelcome attention because they haven’t learnt how to hide properly.

Whilst in hiding, you can also do nothing if you wish, or simply observe. Doing nothing is another important skill to master, as you need inaction to allow yourself to think. Only when you’re slightly bored will you be able to see with a clear eye. People are too busy all the time. It doesn’t do you any good.

Spend time alone. If you feel you have to be around others all the time, ask yourself why. Being alone allows you to sit with yourself & your feelings. You will be more self-aware for it

Always do the right thing for the right reasons, even if it will cost you.

Other peoples opinions of you don't pay your bills.

My ex boss’s words of wisdom were:
Never step on the hands of the others on the ladder on the way up as you never know who’s hands you might need on the way down.

madamehooch · 22/06/2022 20:47

Meal plan.
Be aware of your financial situation, present and future.

Something which took me many years to learn, and has made my life infinitely better.

Good enough is good enough.

It’s fine to complain but be part of the solution.

Moonface123 · 22/06/2022 21:04

Your self love must be stronger than your desire to be loved.

Not all of us are dealt the right cards, doesn't mean you can't reshuffle your deck.

Don't put yourself in situations you' ll have to claw yourself out of later.

Moonface123 · 22/06/2022 21:06

Claw your way out of later.

Campervanlife4me · 22/06/2022 21:14

Omg!! Just gotta share this with you all. I can't eat white sliced bread at all, makes me so poorly. I can however eat French stick and wraps. So I made a marvelous discovery that if I remove the plates from my toastie maker and put tin foil underneath and on top of the wrap to prevent sticking and mess, it comes out with a beautiful panini or toasted wrap.

You are more than your story.

instead of asking “Why me?*,think “Why not me?” None of us are a special case or exempt from the bad shit life can throw at humankind. It’s not personal. It’s not bad luck. It’s just life.

There’s an old Chinese saying, ‘Never name the well at which you will not drink.’ You never know what is around the corner and what you might have to do or face in the future.

None of the things I worried frantically about in my youth and early adulthood happened. The worst things that happened were things I’d not even had the imagination to think could happen. So, my tip is dont waste time on what ‘might happen. Nothing could have prepared me for the real shit that has gone done in my life.

You never really know anyone. Especially yourself.

Thoughts are just thoughts. They’re not facts.

it’s ok not to be good at anything . We don’t have to excel in any area.

You can do whatever you believe you can do if you try hard enough, is a ridiculous message we are given. I will never be a doctor no matter how much I might want to be one or how hard I try. I’m shit at maths, sciences, have zero manual dexterity and a lousy memory. Sometimes wanting something badly is not enough. And that’s ok.

Ritashome · 22/06/2022 21:19

No matter what age you are .
When a situation is stressing you GET AWAY if you can.
You only have one shot at this life
Self esteem and happiness are priceless.

Learn to appreciate the small stuff. Flowers, morning cuppa, perfume, good hair days, cuddles.
