To tell you my baby has just been born?!

My DH has had to go home to see the dogs and will be back later with DS 4 so for now I am in hospital by myself. However it is a lovely quiet post natal ward with one other couple. I think she had a c section this morning so not up and around yet. We are also right next to the canteen for food! DS was born this morning on his due date and his waters were still intact! Sometimes called mermaid birth/en caul. I don’t have anyone to talk to in hospital so posting here shamelessly.

Born in the caul is meant to be extremely lucky!

What a beautiful little sweetheart. Mine was born en caul too. Obviously I’m totally biased but he’s turned out be a very special old soul.

My father was too. He is exceptionally wise in a way that he shouldn't be. It does seem almost otherworldly.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/06/2022 13:53

How magical - he is gorgeous. Congratulations to you.

Noonado · 16/06/2022 14:00

Ah bless! Congratulations OP, he’s absolutely gorgeous 😍

DD was very nearly born en caul; the sac finally tore as she was coming out. She was an exceptionally chilled out baby too*. I like to think that being cushioned in her bubble on the way down the birth canal protected her from the contractions and probably made being born much less uncomfortable and stressful << totally unscientific theory.

*she is the world’s most melodramatic 9 yo. But it was nice while it lasted.

PunishmentSnart · 16/06/2022 14:00

MrsGamgee · 16/06/2022 14:02

He is lovely! Congratulations OP 😊 I remember when I had DD2, we were in hospital and she was asleep in the little cot next to me. DP had gone to get food, I had a cup of tea and was sitting in a private room enjoying the peace and quiet watching the snow falling down outside. It was a truly peaceful and joyful moment. 4 years later and I've never had a peaceful moment since 😂

What a lovely post.
Yes, being born with the caul intact is supposed to bring luck and to protect from drowning.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 16/06/2022 14:06

If you haven't picked a name, I've googled names that mean 'wise' and here are 80 coming from different cultures.

PumpkinSpicedLatte22 · 16/06/2022 14:10

Congratulations on your little one! Hope you're both healthy and comfortable, praying the hospital isn't too hot at at the moment, my daughter was born in a heatwave last summer and it was like a sauna in the delivery suite, I couldn't get out fast enough.

Heathersnotsosmall · 16/06/2022 14:10

Congratulations and welcome to the world weecman! He’s absolutely perfect, what’s his name?
Hope you’re feeling okay after the birth and you get home this evening 🥰

PolkaDotMankini · 16/06/2022 14:10

Congratulations on your beautiful baby son.

SleepSleepRaveAsleep · 16/06/2022 14:11

Ahh congratulations ☺️ he's lovely. The floaty baby bubble thing when everything goes well is the best feeling. My second birth was my best birth, I was allowed home just over 4 hours later, I felt like superwoman walking out that hospital! Enjoy the bubble and your precious bundle 😊, make sure you record when your other child meets him (for yourselves, not for likes) it's lovely to look back on X

LadyOfTheCanyon · 16/06/2022 14:12

Just seen the picture! Adorable. He looks like my Uncle Ian. All babies look like my Uncle Ian ( who is a fine figure of a man, I should add.) 👑

RenegadeMrs · 16/06/2022 14:17
