To think life would be better if it was June in perpetuity?

Would it become tiresome? I can not forsee that happening.

All the hard work in spring has paid off in the garden, the birds are in full song, the days are warm and long. I've convinced myself I am not being unreasonable. Long live June.

I would like that very much, maybe with a couple of weeks of crisp autumn (for bonfire night) a couple of weeks of frosty winter (for Christmas) and a couple of weeks of spring (Easter).

November, January and February don't really have much to recommend them, and I haven't been keen on August and September in recent times.

Crunchymum · 14/06/2022 21:09

32c predicted on Friday here. Not nice at all.

dizzydizzydizzy · 14/06/2022 21:10

This is my favourite month of the year....... but poor teenagers...... exams every month!

dudsville · 14/06/2022 21:12

I love all the seasons, and this week has been great, but i would love to not wake with the sunrise!

aSofaNearYou · 14/06/2022 21:13

Nope, not a fan of the near constant daylight and I'm an absolute mess with hayfever.

I've always liked the changeable seasons, I'm always ready for the next climate after a while with one of them.

ForestFae · 14/06/2022 21:14

I love all the seasons. I love the progress of them all, autumn is my personal favourite but I love them all, I love the cycles of nature and the rhythms of the seasons. I find it meaningful.

DappledThings · 14/06/2022 21:14

God no, can't be doing with the really long daylight. It's so unrestful. Only a week till the longest day, hurrah. I will feel better once we get past that hump.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 14/06/2022 21:17

ShowOfHands · 14/06/2022 20:11

No Christmas? No Autumn? No snow?

Nooooooooooo.

Agreed. And I'd never have my birthday! Or one of my DCs.

No, OP, June rolls around every year, you'll appreciate it all the more because of the waiting!

RockStarMartini · 14/06/2022 21:21

I love the changing seasons, agree that there’s a comfort in the familiarity and predictability of nature.

But May/June are really beautiful - everything feels fresh and new whereas by July it all feels a bit tired. I’m often ready for Autumn before the schools break up!

I even did my best to enjoy Jan/Feb this year as at nearly 50 I realised how stupid it was to be wishing away 1/6 of every year.

My favourite month will always be September but I think May or June are a close second.

pattish · 14/06/2022 21:24

JimTheShit · 14/06/2022 20:25

Yes. I’m also a May fan.

May is my absolute favourite. All the cow parsley, the promise of summer, everything looking so fresh.

By July it all looks past it and the nights are already drawing in!

cheeseisthebest · 14/06/2022 21:25

God no, I hate it. Too bright, not enough dark and hayfever. Oh and flies.
Worst month of the year!

Sallyingon · 14/06/2022 21:25

June is joyful. I love it too. I love the light and the heat. If I could choose one ground hog month it would always be June

ThisIsGroundControl · 14/06/2022 21:26

ilovesooty · 14/06/2022 20:20

I hate Christmas, autumn and snow.

Agree

Undertheoldlindentree · 14/06/2022 21:28

Yes - May/June on a loop would suit me just fine!

ThisIsGroundControl · 14/06/2022 21:29

changingroom · 14/06/2022 20:34

Yes yes yes! If I could save a moment in a bottle it would be my children playing in the water in the garden, me pottering round picking out a few weeds, The sun just beginning to set, dappled sunlight, birdsong and laughter. This is June for me.

Add a glass of Chablis and that is my bottle moment.

Urgh, no! Bring back winter and dusk at 4pm, snuggling in and battening down the hatches. I hate this summery shit!

Interestingly, I'm a summer baby. My DS is a mid winter baby and craves this time of year 🤷‍♀️

I'd take May over July. But June is still the best.

Although the suggestions about living in the canaries or following the sun is excellent.

lightisnotwhite · 14/06/2022 21:35

I was just thinking how much I love this month ( although maybe May because you have the expectation).
You can tell it’s a good month because you don’t need made up crap like Halloween and Christmas. It just makes you happy being outside.
Weirdly DS hates it. Complaining about the heat already..it’s not even the 30 degrees they predict for Friday.

mackthepony · 14/06/2022 21:35

Nope.

September

nilpois · 14/06/2022 21:36

Normally a winter person and love the dark evenings......however being quite new to gardening I'm now loving June.
Could we perhaps just omit some of pollen as
the hay is driving me mad!

nilpois · 14/06/2022 21:38

*hay fever -
my eyes are so sore I can't even see what I'm
typing Smile

Purplehonesty2 · 14/06/2022 21:40

How about 10 months of June, a nice hot august and then December - snow and Christmas!

VioletCharlotte · 14/06/2022 21:41

I like how green everything looks and love all the flowers in peoples gardens and in the fields and hedgerows. I like the warmth of the sun and being able to go outside without layering up.

But I struggle with the light mornings and evenings. I find it really difficult to relax at night and then I wake up so early so feel permanently tired.

Kite22 · 14/06/2022 21:42

I'm going to presume you are neither aged between 14 and 22, nor do you have dc in that age range?
June is exam month. Stress month. I would NOT want June lasting all year.

Plus, much as I love the warmth, I also love autumn and I also love snow and I LOVE Christmas.

I obviously can’t speak for Pinksalty, but for me it’s because I have to fall asleep in the daylight if I want to be able to get up at 5am and function properly.

I have a tiny bedroom window and it’s too hot and stuffy to sleep if it’s shut or the curtains are drawn. So I’m laying in bed with an eye mask on listening to every kid in the neighbourhood either playing football, jumping on trampolines or arguing with their parents for another 20 minutes outside. When they finally bugger off home, the dickhead next door comes out to chat to his next door neighbour and smoke weed for a couple of hours. When they go back in, I’ve got roughly three hours before a family of bastard thrushes wake up and decide to start auditioning for the feathered version of Madame Butterfly outside my bedroom window.

I bloody love winter.

If I were you I'd buy a portable air-con unit and keep the window closed. We had a similar scenario in DS's nursery/bedroom (it faced south and had an oriel window so got the sun from dawn to dusk) which faced a busy road and loads of drunks pedestrians. We could get his room from >30 degrees to 19 degrees, much better for a tiny infant, and didn't have traffic fumes and noise from revellers.

Obviously an expense but as a one-off that helps you sleep better, it should be worth it?
