Elsa and Anna's parents were shockingly awful...

Any others?

OP posts:
HavfrueDenizKisi · 12/06/2022 16:42

So it does @IcedPurple - it really is awful in so many many ways.

woodhill · 12/06/2022 16:46

Or queueing in public at the ladies

ellie21 · 12/06/2022 16:46

It's ok to be a prostitute but you should never neglect your teeth (Pretty Woman)

Momicrone · 12/06/2022 16:50

You get served quickly at the bar and you're allowed to shout orders at the bar person, who does that?

PermanentlyTired03 · 12/06/2022 16:51

Ferris bueller was just an asshole that picked on his friend.

KittytheHare · 12/06/2022 16:55

In The devil wears Prada, Andi's friends and most especially her boyfriend were toxic, unsupportive jerks to her.

thesurrealist · 12/06/2022 16:58

Don't buy a house with a basement because you will end up chased down there by a murderer.

If you have a basement, when the murderer is in your house, don't go down there.

ellie21 · 12/06/2022 16:58

@KittytheHare True. Also NEVER wear a cheap blue crew neck jumper if you want to be fashionable.

In America, lacrosse is a super-butch, rufty-tufty game played by men wearing body armour and helmets, not a game associated with posh girls wearing PE kit.
My Canadian MiL was shocked to hear that I played lacrosse at school - definitely a nasty rough game in her world!

woodhill · 12/06/2022 17:02

I used to hate Lacrosse, wanted to play hockey

Momicrone · 12/06/2022 17:05

The female leads in most romantic comedies do caring jobs like nursery school teachers, nurses or vets

AsTreesWalking · 12/06/2022 17:09

Woodhill it's a terrifying game. I was goalie (full body pad, helmet, face guard) got concussion! And that was just in my girls' school second team...

Hairdressers are going to survive anything, doesn’t matter whether it’s zombies or the complete destruction of civilisation, they’re obviously still working.

Maybe Douglas Adams had a point. 😂

This is a very old one, but my sister came out of the cinema in floods of tears after watching Jaws - because it wasn't fair to kill the shark when it was just doing what comes naturally. She still refuses to sleep with her bedroom window open (she's 52!) in case a burglar climbs up the wall and breaks in (the very first Superman film!).

Notjustanymum · 12/06/2022 17:22

Ooh, I have enjoyed reading this thread!
That Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant can play Captain Hook so differently on stage (An awfully big adventure).

dropthevipers · 12/06/2022 17:25

Why, despite having the best brains that money can buy, any global threat to government cyber security, is alway solved by a teenager in a basement wearing a tin foil hat?

You could probably tell her that the shark wasn't doing what comes naturally. Sharks don't behave like that. The author of the book did say later that if he had done any real research and knew anything about his sharks behave then he wouldn't have written the book. So that shark was no natural shark!

What was the Alien eating/laying its eggs on before the humans landed on its planet? Its species wouldn’t have lasted long on such a restrictive diet if they were relying on the vague likelihood of a passing spaceship just happening to stop for a break on its home planet.

Or they are hard-hearted corporate high flyers who need to be publicly humiliated before they are rewarded with the love of a good man.

sweatervest · 12/06/2022 17:59

tom cruise had a blackhead/spot of some description in his left ear at the beginning of top gun 2

it was literally all i could think about.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 12/06/2022 18:03

Clark Griswold is a hideously abusive prick of the highest order.
The basketball game in Top Gun was camper than a row of pink tents with rainbow bunting tied to the centre-poles.

Change your appearance from alternative weirdo to mainstream, preppy bore, and you’ll be dating the school jock faster than you can say ‘The Breakfast Club’.
On the point of John Hughes films – did the makers of ‘Pretty in Pink’ never actually listen to the song by the Psychedelic Furs and grasp the full meaning of the lyrics?

Wes Craven’s ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ was both philosophically and psychologically acute. It also makes some interesting concessions to Eastern mysticism. I’ll get me coat.

LeavesOnTrees · 12/06/2022 18:15

That if you're an highly successful career woman so important that you have a whole film dedicated to you BUT you also have children, then the ending message will be that your whole success wasn't really worth it because you were a crap mother who missed out on what was important in life.

Devil wears prada and the margaret thatcher film I'm looking at you.

women will still be shaving their legs and armpits even in the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse. Men's stubble will grow to an attractive length then stay there.

My mum was wrong, sleeping in your make up won't mean that you stain the sheets and wake up looking like hell...
