Am I the only one that thinks it's strange? We went to his BBQ party last night. When we arrived and got sat down this friend excitedly showed me DD's photo I had shared on a WhatsApp group, on his phone's Lock Screen.

I thought it were weird as people are going to see it and think that's his child, no? I asked for my DH's opinion and he didn't see the problem, in fact he thought it was sweet of him!

For context, this friend is gay and married to his husband. Very broody and wants kids via IVF/adoption in the next couple of years.

I just thought people put their own kids on their phone screen. AIBU? I'm willing to be told otherwise!

DD is only 2 months old. So I'd say he's seen her about five times since she were born and he those dote on her when he's here but I never thought anything of it.

Presumably you like him and have no other cause for concern?

That's a LOT of visits for just 2 months old. I'd put it down to him being broody and sweet.

Super weird and a bit creepy. I wouldn't like it.

AnIckabog · 11/06/2022 20:55

It's sweet - he is a very close friend, is excited about your DDs arrival and broody. I've had my godson's photo on my lockscreen before.
Agree with the poster above that if you are going down the godparent route he sounds a great choice if he dotes on her already.

Personally I don't find it weird considering your updates.

Why?

obviously because men are less likely to kill or rape children. especially children they know.

I had my best friends baby (My godson) as my wall paper when he was born.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think he is just broody. One of my friends had my cat on her phone for about 6 months. Then she got her own cat.

My sister in law has my kids photo as her phone wallpaper/lockscreen. She sees them once, maybe twice, a year - has met my youngest twice (who is 2.5yrs). She doesn't have her own kids. I didn't think it was that strange.

WimbyAce · 11/06/2022 22:30

I don't think it's weird, he's obvs super excited which is nice and also broody for his own. The fact he showed you it straight away too suggests no issues to me.

My Partner's best friend has our Son as his phone screensaver, I thought it was sweet when I seen it. They are very close friends though, he's our Son's Godfather and we refer to him as "uncle". My Partner doesn't have any siblings but they've been friends since they were kids and see eachother as brothers
