Sweaty patch on seats

Geordielass1987 · 11/06/2022 09:43

Can we please normalise the sweaty patch on seats when you get up? It always happens to me and I am mortified every single time. Surely others experience this?!

I also suffer with mimge mist, I put it down to being larger and therefore warmer climes down there, are any of you minge misters bigger or is this something that affects all sizes?
I either sit on something if it's a chair that is in the risk category or stand because I can't do the leg shuffle stand up thing, it doesn't work and there's still a patch there.

I'm so glad someone has addressed this, I thought I was weird!

Norgie · 14/06/2022 00:11

Can someone please explain the leg and side swipe?
I'm a victim too.

At school we all perfected the forward slide and stand. It was everyone's move.

As a teacher I also did this . It's those plastic moulded chairs and certain fabrics make it worse ie polyester. cotton trousers are a bit better.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 14/06/2022 00:36

I have no idea what this is. Genuinely intrigued.

Summerfun54321 · 14/06/2022 00:51

I think it’s condensation rather than direct crotch sweat. Plastic seats are the worst for it.

MinglingFlamingo · 14/06/2022 07:31

This is why I love mn! It talks about things where you're like it's me I'm weird, then you realise others experience it too. I get so paranoid about "minge mist" especially on a hot day and I'm in a summer dress or something

Totally stealing minge mist btw 😁

HairyMcLarie · 14/06/2022 07:34

Fanny fog
Minge mist

I'm thinking of a name that uses 'condensation' 😳

Don't leave the seat by rising straight up. Instead kind of skootch forward and sideways so any fanny fog remnants are swept up by a leg and hopefully a bit of fabric.

A bit like you are cleaning the seat with your arse. Affecting a slight 'back problem' to explain the peculiar approach can help cover your tracks.

Oh god.

chiffchaffchiff · 14/06/2022 07:41

Happens to me too! Thin work trousers are the worst for it.

HairyMcLarie · 14/06/2022 08:08

The way I see it is when you sit down particularly with a bare leg and a short skirt or short you are creating a little triangle pocket of air betwixt warm thighs, hot fanny and the base of a cold, unbreathable plastic chair.
That triangle then creates its own weather system that involves a form of mist/fog/condensation that pools on the seat.

If you cupped your hands over a plastic table, made them airtight and left them there for an hour there'd be a little pool of condensation too. Not sweat.

Geordielass1987 · 14/06/2022 08:42

@DorkfromYork 😂😂😂

I don’t think size has much to do with it either I’ve had it being a size 8 and a size 16!

@HairyMcLarie has the physics of it right. It's the same principle as condensation behind thick curtains on a cold winter's night - the curtain/your bum traps a little pocket of warm air, and the moisture from it then condenses as it cools on hitting the colder surface of the window/chair. Colder air holds less moisture. Colder surfaces - like plastic - make more condense. Which should mean it's nothing to be embarrassed about, but...

onlythreenow · 14/06/2022 08:58

I'm over 60 and I've never heard of this!

ArtVandalay · 14/06/2022 09:00

Is this a thing? I’ve never heard of it.

NellesVilla · 14/06/2022 09:23

As a woman on their period, this is a worry of mine once a month during the ‘heavy’ bit.!

I have a friend with a beautiful white sofa and every time I visit that is ‘my’ seat. I sit on my coat during this time and although she’s never said anything it must look a bit odd. I also worry when in other’ cars and have to again, sit on my coat!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 14/06/2022 09:39

Since it happens to men too, maybe it's crack condensation?

I generally do a slight swivel in the seat before standing up when I think it's likely to happen. Though that's been another advantage of working from home - I haven't had to sorry about this in two years!

AMBE123 · 11/06/2022 11:24

This happened to me but not since menopause unless I'm at the gym. I remember sitting on some guys motorbike to try it for size, and when I got up there was a damp patch...and he looked straight at it....must have thought I was attracted to him......I was utterly mortified. It's definitely a thing but pantyliners help

I'm sorry but I genuinely laughed out loud at this.

And yes, the male ego will have thought the combo of him and his motorbike had turned your minge into a drip tray. Grin

I have to sit on a saddle seat at work.
I dread standing up in front of patients but find tena pads have helped (even though I'm not actually incontinent).

Can you get some kind of fabric cover for your work seat? With the excuse that it's more comfortable?

Lemonyfuckit · 14/06/2022 19:21

Thank you OP, I thought I was abnormally sweaty! Grin

This makes so much sense. It's not that we have damp sweaty crotches, just hot crotches.

XenoBitch · 14/06/2022 19:30

I am so glad to see this. I thought I was a disgusting freak. Yep, plastic seats are the worst. Back in my gym bunny days, I perfected the 'swipe then stand' when getting up from weight machines.
My worst experience was seeing evidence of sweaty crotch after sitting on a motorcycle in a showroom. I had an audience and was mortified.

FlissyPaps · 14/06/2022 19:37

Always happens to me in the hairdressers, I think depending on the type of material of the chair it makes it more obvious.

I always push the chair in quick and hope that no one realises and it dries quick before the next person sits down.

I don’t know why we feel embarrassed about it, it should be nothing to be embarrassed about. Completely normal and vaginas are self
-cleaning organs.

LOL at all the “is this a thing” comments. Yes it is.

Geordielass1987 · 14/06/2022 21:03

I’ve got a appointment tomorrow and I know I will have to sit on a chair of doom and I’m already embarrassed about it! Why has no one been on dragons den with a solution yet 😂 sort it out minge misters
