Sweaty patch on seats

Can we please normalise the sweaty patch on seats when you get up? It always happens to me and I am mortified every single time. Surely others experience this?!

I don’t think it’s sweating through. I think it’s that when you sit like that and your vaginal area is pretty warm it creates a little patch of condensation from the air, so it’s not sweat at all, it’s water from the air.

Geordielass1987 · 11/06/2022 11:16

I have a baby under 1 and I wee myself sometimes (I’m working on it😂) so I wear panty liners all the time, it’s bad I know but it did happen before I ever had kids. And Oh god I didn’t think about a wet patch! New fear! #MINGEMISTERSFORLIFE

I agree.. it's always SO so warm down there so it's minge condensation I reckon 😆

AMBE123 · 11/06/2022 11:24

This happened to me but not since menopause unless I'm at the gym. I remember sitting on some guys motorbike to try it for size, and when I got up there was a damp patch...and he looked straight at it....must have thought I was attracted to him......I was utterly mortified. It's definitely a thing but pantyliners help

Mossstitch · 11/06/2022 11:25

Over 60 and never seen this til the other day at work someone got up from a plastic chair that I was about to sit on and I just couldn't when I saw the wet patch. Didn't make it obvious just pretended I was doing something else so nobody noticed. But the thing is, it was a man........... So you are going to have to think of a different name for it🤔😂

TheCanyon · 11/06/2022 11:26

Yikes. I'm away for a bath

Startuplife · 11/06/2022 11:27

This happens to men as well! I went out for dinner abroad with male colleagues in extremely hot weather. One of them was wearing cream chino shorts and when he stood up after dinner he had an actual wet patch on the back of his trousers.

blugray · 11/06/2022 11:27

This has never happened to me, didn’t even know it was a thing. I wear a full range of bottom from trousers to dresses to skirts and never witnessed it. Is it with certain chair materials?

Geordielass1987 · 11/06/2022 11:29

@TheCanyon just to be clear I shower as soon as I get up and again before bed. This isn’t a hygiene thing. It is condensation so basically science but hey whatever makes you feel better

@blugray plastic and leather chairs are the absolute worst!

Basically you have a really hot fanny 🤷🏼‍♀️ embrace it

blugray · 11/06/2022 12:04

Ahh can’t think of any plastic/leather chairs I come across regularly, maybe night outs/restaurants. Most chairs in my life have some type of canvas material I guess!

do you think the pose impacts it eg sitting normally vs legs crossed?

blugray · 11/06/2022 12:05

Also do your clothes get damp as well?

skybluee · 11/06/2022 12:06

I get condensation on my phone when it's been in a certain coat pocket!

sonjadog · 11/06/2022 12:16

I get this too! I didn't realise it was so common. I do the sideways slide off seats to remove it. Sometimes I get odd looks for doing it, but I reckon they would be odder if they saw the wet patch left behind.

And yes, sometimes I end up with damp clothes too. Which is why I always wear dark colours (it is also because I drop stuff on myself all the time and have a dog, so all in all, dark colours are better for me).

blugray · 11/06/2022 12:22

That’s so interesting, we’re all different I guess. I never, ever get sweaty or damp on my lower half. In high heat my back and underarms get damp so I guess it all about the upper half for me.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 11/06/2022 12:28

Men have it too!

So what's that?

Moomoo75 · 11/06/2022 12:33

It happens to me too. I don't think its sweat. I think its condensation, ie the heat coming from your body hitting a hard cold non absorbent surface like a plastic chair. Think putting the palm of your hand close to a glass window. Condensation will form. So it will happen for men and women

Dick dew 😂

hazandduck · 13/06/2022 23:33

I had this tonight!! I was sat on a school chair at my first ever parents’ evening, wearing a dress in a hot hall, didn’t even think about my legs stuck to the plastic chair til I got up and the stranger beside me gallantly swooped in and offered to stack my chair for me as I was staring in horror at the wet patch I’d left!! 🙈😂 FML. Not had that happen for a long time. I hope his kid is not in my kid’s class come September!! I’ll be known as The Sweaty Arse Mum. 😩

Dick dew 😂

I’m sorry but 😂😂😂 dick dew!

Chaoslatte · 13/06/2022 23:46

I thought it was just me! I hardly sweat through my armpits but I’ve had to do the side swipe and stand many a time

SweetMystery · 13/06/2022 23:48

You don’t need to shuffle off the seat! Just sweep round sideways to pick up the bag you tactically placed on the floor by your side before you sat down!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 13/06/2022 23:48

I was so, so self conscious of this in high school! It never seemed to happen to anyone else either, i know because i looked, i was obsessive about it. Any month, any weather, i took to sitting on my dry coat, still happened!
Even now when i live in panty liners, always happens.

CanaryShoulderedThorn · 13/06/2022 23:53

I have to sit on a saddle seat at work.
I dread standing up in front of patients but find tena pads have helped (even though I'm not actually incontinent).
