To think not many women have short hair

I know there will be posters on here who have, but just thinking of people I know in real life.
Thinking of a group of 7 friends I've had since school, not one of them has above shoulder length hair. One tried a pixie about a decade ago, but grew it straight out and none have ever had anything less than a very very long bob.
I vaguely know of 2 women with buzz cuts, which suit them, they're my partner's colleagues, but otherwise I know nobody.
Working across secondary schools, it's very very rare to see girls with short hair. Maybe 2 in the whole year group.
I may be wrong but I've never seen anybody on a show like Love Island with short hair, always flowing extensions.
I have it, but sometimes wonder if I'm considered more unattractive for it, not that it matters, I do it for me.
Does anybody else notice this?

Maybe the men who aren't that comfortable with their masculinity that they need a very feminine woman by their side. But I wouldn't say its a majority. Men and women have personal preferences of course but i can't imagine there is such a strong trend.

I think men who have a strong preference for long hair like their women to be “traditional” in other ways as well.

To me short hair is actually short hair. Hair that’s shorter than shoulder length but longer than say face length isn’t short. And to me “high maintenance” is not a six weekly visit to the salon, it’s needing to wash your hair every day. I have hair
slightly above shoulder length. I wash it once a week. Every other day I just comb it and quickly run the straighteners through if necessary. It’s not always.

My ex husband was always trying to get me to cut my long hair. He used to say it needs saloning, which made me paranoid it was in bad condition (and I did have it cut to shoulder length after repeated comments wore me down)), but looking back it was just fine and I grew it back a few years ago.

I think there have been threads about husbands and boyfriends trying to persuade their partners to cut their hair and the motives are different from the norm.
