To be concerned that the Depp/Heard trial has put off genuine DV victims from coming forward?

PetraBP · 09/06/2022 09:23

The Depp/Heard trial was troubling to me.

On the one hand, people do sometimes make false allegations, especially after relationship breakups.

On the other hand, dragging someone to court for alleging domestic violence might deter some women from reporting it.

Assuming the court got it right and Depp was not a perpetrator, how could he have handled the situation so that it would not put domestic violence victims off coming forward for fear of being sued?

Worrying all round.

@Aspiringmatriarch she testified she did not cheat on Depp and that his jealousy was unfounded.

Did she ever say anything about Cara Delevigne specifically?

Rabbitholedigger · 23/06/2022 13:07

She testified she didn't cheat whilst married. Her witness Josh testified to her visitors and her threesome with CD and Musk. Her witness. So CD was named by her own witness.

Now a photo in JDs apartment whilst she's married.

Don't know what else to say.

BlanketsBanned · 23/06/2022 13:08

They divorced in 2017 so any romantic relationships before then are adultery

You're claiming this photo with Cara Delevigne is proof of cheating but you haven't shown what the date was. You said Amber specifically denied a relationship with CD while under oath - which doesn't appear to be the case from how you've now reworded it? So the issue here is that she may have had relationships after separating from JD? If you have information that credibly says this is from an earlier date (pre-separation), then please link that. If not then kindly stop spreading unverified gossip.

BlanketsBanned · 23/06/2022 14:13

Why does the date of the kiss matter so much, she was still married.

Aspiringmatriarch · 23/06/2022 14:29

Because it's not cheating if you're no longer with someone.

Rabbitholedigger · 23/06/2022 14:34

Well you think it's after, I think it's before. Truth will come out.

Technically it is adultry but real life isn't quite like that.

It's the denial that irks me.

Aspiringmatriarch · 23/06/2022 14:43

Right...so you're using an undated photo to make an assumption, and then you're irked that the person involved has denied the thing you've assumed without proof? 😵‍💫

I think I'll leave you to it at this point. Look after yourself Tiddy/ Rabbit.

HRTQueen · 23/06/2022 15:02

I think some on here really need to look at their obsession with Amber Heard and why they are so angry towards her their relationship is not your relationship

Its way beyond wanting to see justice being done

How much time are you spending investigating her life it’s utterly bizarre

Rabbitholedigger · 23/06/2022 15:12

Not really? I'm also following the Britney Spears ongoing case and justice for Gabby Petitos family. Both women and both important. The law interests me and I've found the televising of the case eye opening, in many ways.

I also have a full life and my obsession isn't about Heard, it's about justice and refusing to let history be rewritten. Few of her supporters would love us to shut up and let her and MSM twist the narrative back.

It's important for the future of any case that this is exposed and to be able to view evidence ourselves and form opinions of our own.

But Heard filed for divorce May 2016. No one considers it cheating if they've separated and are in the middle of a divorce.

Whats the legal definition of adultery when separated but still married

Rabbitholedigger · 23/06/2022 19:28

Ugh, now Jussie Smollett has been given a platform to try and convince everyone he's not a liar, the jury were misled, blah blah blah.

Another proven liar allowed to publicly undermine the US justice system and jury verdicts. Dangerous precedent.

LetitiaLeghorn · 23/06/2022 20:12

It might be technically but as I said no one considers it cheating when you're officially separated. However in English law, I do know its not adultery if you have an affair with someone of the same sex. I think its the same in the USA, although the law might have been updated. So, probably, no adultery with Cara.

Friars23 · 23/06/2022 22:42

He also testified to her having many overnight guests whilst JD was away

To be fair the lawyer’s question to Josh Drew is did you notice her having visitors at night whilst JD was away? I see some of the commentators referring to the visits as late night but the word late was never used by the lawyer asking the question. If you are a young person and your partner is away a lot having visitors over at night seems fairly normal to me. From the question and answer it was impossible to discern whether they were overnight.

Friars23 · 23/06/2022 23:49

Here is a screenshot of the page of the transcript of Josh Drew’s deposition where the lawyer asks if Josh Drew observed Heard have visitors at night when Depp was away.

Rabbitholedigger · 23/06/2022 23:56

Yes, up to 50 from what he saw. I'm assuming some/most were just friends.

Staying overnight, visiting, coming in the evening, who knows? Don't have to stay overnight do they. Her credibility is gone.

I don't care if she had thousands, its not the biggest lie shes told. it's the denial/lack of credibility throughout.

Friars23 · 24/06/2022 00:06

Every day the Independent and Guardian published summations and op eds that bore little relation to the evidence I'd just even with my own eyes.

I noticed that, it was really eye opening to see how newspapers - even supposedly reputable ones, not tabloid - can as you say present a skewed narrative that bore little relation to the evidence. I would have thought presenting a daily summary of events would make it hard to form such a misleading picture but they did.

It left me wondering what the heck the uk judge had been listening to and how many wrong judgements have made in the past when a main witness such as Heard is made exempt from making full disclosure.

I am not legally trained but some of the judge’s reasoning in his ruling seemed to defy logic to me. For example in his ruling he wrote how Amber in audio recordings talked about times she had punched JD and also there were audio recordings of JD saying to her on a few occasions about she times had punched him. Yet the judge ruled he placed no great weight on these admissions by Heard as they were not said under oath in court and interrogated. Obviously I have zilch legal training but to dismiss them as having v little relevance seemed strange.

Rabbitholedigger · 24/06/2022 00:16

Off this topic but Mike Lynch is absolutely handing MSM their arses at the moment and it's a joy to watch!

Friars23 · 24/06/2022 00:19

It’s the denial/lack of credibility throughout.

I agree she has said so many things that make her not credible to me but I think Josh Drew saying yes in answer to a lawyer’s question whether she had visitors at night - he said he couldn’t say to number but agreed more than 30, probably not more than 50 - wasn’t an example of her lack of credibility. There are many things that show she lacks credibility just not this particular example. I also didn’t like the way that question has been reframed on much of social media as her having late night visitors with the implication of cheating that carries when the question was just did she have visitors at night.

So agree. He is exposing their bad faith interviewing tactics brilliantly.

Rabbitholedigger · 24/06/2022 00:32

Yep! They're not controlling the narrative where he is concerned, neither are the politician. Breath of fresh air!!

Rabbitholedigger · 24/06/2022 09:32

It's court day today. I wonder if JD will let the £8m go.

I initially thought he would, but not so sure now, since the interviews.

I'm hoping for an injunction too, but also hard to get.

Depends on the conditions I guess, drop the 8m if she agrees not to appeal, is that like give me 3 penthouses, a car and 50k a month and I wont go public. If he agrees to pursue any settlement then so must she.

BlanketsBanned · 24/06/2022 11:08

I mean if he agrees not to pursue any settlement then neither should she
