To think it's unfair to the royal children

Seeing their little faces all over the media, especially louis who is being made the subject of thousands of memes and being shared by loads of businesses - all because he was acting like a 4 year old?

His parents choose to be in the public eye, the children didn't. Making them sit through hours of boredom with the country gawping at them and judging them for their behaviour.

I can't help but think they're being exploited, and people have lost sight of what's in the children's best interests. Especially large corporations using louis to hawk their products and raise their own profile. He's just a little boy. If he was any non royal child it wouldn't be acceptable. Haven't they learnt anything from harry and william being damaged by growing up in the public eye?

Marginally less cruel than forcing them to watch grouse being slaughtered for their parents' pleasure.

Mamamia7962 · 07/06/2022 18:56

Do you have a link for the Aldi advert? I'm sure that any advert involving royalty would need their permission which I can't see them giving, so interested to see it.

It's on their twitter (though I don't 'get' it).

What is unfair to the royal children is not occasionally appearing in public at a young age, but the huge hyped-up all-singing-all-dancing circus the press, the media and everyone else makes of it. And that includes threads like this one.

Nanalisa60 · 07/06/2022 19:06

This is a one off event, they will now go back to there normal routine.

FangsForTheMemory · 07/06/2022 19:06

People like you, endlessly scraping the bottom of the barrel for yet ANOTHER pointless thread about the royal family, are part of the problem.

TheSeldomSeenKid · 07/06/2022 19:07

The only memes or adverts I’ve seen him in have been kind, saying he’s a little legend sort of vibe. No one being disparaging. I think it was lovely to see his personality and the nation has fallen in love with him!

user1471457751 · 07/06/2022 19:08

I would be more worried about the children of z-list celebrities with their itv2 'reality' shows having their whole lives put on display for millions of people on a weekly basis. Those are parents who don't give a damn about their kids and use them to make money.

lucyapplejuicy · 07/06/2022 19:12

They will live! I thought it was lovely seeing the royal children act like CHILDREN. I could almost see the sweat beads rolling down Kate's forehead while having to keep him sat for 3 hours watching the parade! I thought they all did very well Smile

Iflyaway · 07/06/2022 19:13

won't have much privacy until they are adults and can choose to step back.

Oh right. Like Harry and Meghan?!

I feel sorry for those kids.

SimpleShootingWeekend · 07/06/2022 19:13

It would be a bit shit to leave them at home with nanny when there was exciting and historic stuff going on for their great grandma that loads of other people, including their entire family, we’re going to. They’ll remember that weekend their whole lives. They aren’t massively over exposed, and the other Royal children are barely seen. How many people would recognise viscount Severn or lady Louise or Mia Tindal in the street?

SurfBox · 07/06/2022 19:17

how exactly are either man damaged? They seem like pretty typical young men in their 30s to me, except they had massive privilege the vast majority of other men that age never got. Where exactly is the 'damage'?

EatSleepReplete · 07/06/2022 19:23

I'm not a Royalist. I'd abolish the monarchy tomorrow if I had my way. Make them all get jobs, pension them off, whatever.

But, I wouldn't want their life, not for all their privileges. They get very little say on the direction their life takes, very little freedom, no privacy when they're out & about, any little mishap or misfortune is front page gossip for weeks (for their whole lives potentially). If any of them puts a foot wrong, or even if they don't, they're vilified, criticised, picked apart in endless minute detail. Frankly it's horrific. Princess Diana (who was brought up in the nobility) was hounded by the press, ultimately to her death, & Harry is criticised for wanting spare his wife a similar life. If this weren't already a settled institution, I don't honestly believe anyone sane would go into it with their eyes open. It's not much short of modern slavery. And much like the tobacco industry, it certainly wouldn't get approval if it were suddenly "invented" now. It's largely because of the Pomp And Ceremony that so many people love them so much - they're just people, whose ancestors were in the right place at the right time, with a bigger sword than their opponents.

And yes, spending all that money on the jubilee celebrations when there is so much poverty in the nation, & worse to come, is callous beyond words. I'm sure the Queen didn't have much to say on that though. She never comments on anything, apparently. Makes you wonder what she's actually there for.

AuxArmesCitoyens · 07/06/2022 19:31

YANBU. They'd probably have a much happier and fulfilling life if the whole shebang was abolished. Trussing out the poor buggers in suits to watch a tedious parade just to keep the wheels on the whole sorry show.

SurfBox · 07/06/2022 19:34

Frankly it's horrific. Princess Diana (who was brought up in the nobility) was hounded by the press

only she courted with the press and thrived off the attention.

Ihatethenewlook · 07/06/2022 19:38

Oh yes. Let’s all shed a tear for the rich little prince and princesses. How horrendous for the poor little mites having to sit through their nans party 🙄

I don't think she "thrived" on the attention.

ok so she didn't pose on her bikinis on the yacht, go on Panorama and turn up wearing the post divorce dress?

Eviltheweevil · 07/06/2022 18:04

You're welcome to go start a thread about those children if you want.

Whilst you wring your hands about rich little Louis.

Ahgoonyegirlye · 07/06/2022 20:23

You know, with their super privileged lives, and their millions and millions in money and land and everything else, I think those kids will be okay. So no, I don’t feel sorry for them.
they do have the option of leaving the ‘firm’ when they grow up, if they have half the gumption of Harry they may just.

Eviltheweevil · 07/06/2022 20:27

Meraas · 07/06/2022 20:17

Wondering if he's being exploited by the media and large companies isn't handwringing. I started a discussion about whether it's right for companies to use him to promote their businesses. This is a discussion forum, isn't it? So if you'd like to talk about other things, go right ahead and start your own thread.

Why have you got such a problem with a 4 year old little boy anyway?

OP posts:
OakPine · 07/06/2022 20:28

I think we know very little about the Royal children. There are very few pictures and not many public appearances. Their lives are still in the main very private.

What is not ok are the many parent and especially mummy influencers who post everyday personal detail of their children, their toilet habits eew and their tantrums etc. Poor children seeing that when they are older. There are a couple of mum influencers near to me, and they never post pictures of themselves, only their kids. One of them exhausted pics of her kids so recently got a puppy. Wonder how many extra followers that bought her.

I didn't ask if you felt sorry for him. I asked if its fair that he's exploited by companies, in a thousand memes and all over the media because he was acting like a 4 year old.

But apparently its fine to exploit a child if his parents have money.

OP posts:
artisanbread · 07/06/2022 20:33

Agree with others, they are much less exploited than the kids whose parents splash them over YouTube, Instagram or TikTok daily.

Roussette · 07/06/2022 20:37

@EatSleepReplete

So agree
My first and only thought with the kids is "poor sods"
Who would've liked their lives mapped out forever.
I hope one or more say 'nah, it's not for me'
Harry has set a precedent. Good. But I'm not a royalist
