Kids doing their business in parks.

Happycabbage · 04/06/2022 13:27

As a regular user of parks, I regularly hear about people complaining about dogs doing their business in parks, but what rarely gets mentioned is how big a problem there is with kids doing the same.

And I'm not talking about your 14 year old that got caught short, I'm talking about what tons of brainless parents make happen.

Sit near a kids play area on any busy sunny day and you'll be witness to a never ending procession of toddlers escorted by parents heading for the nearest bushes.

All the parents think it's just them but anyone that spends any time nearby on a busy day can see it's one after another after another, all heading for the same bushes, all thinking nobody is noticing them and you know what, it's only one kids crap, what does it matter?

But no it's all day, and day after day. It happens in every busy park. It frequently ends up in the same handful of bushes. It's utterly disgusting and the parents that contribute to it are bad parents. Everyone complains about dogs but human crap is so much worse.

If you're one of those brainless people, can you please think about other people for once and stop being so disgusting? Take your kids to the damn toilets. It may be further away but it's what decent people do.

Sometimes kids can't make it the toilet. It isn't nice for them. Don't make it worse for them by calling them disgusting. FYI sometimes adults have conditions that make it very difficult for them to make it to the bathroom sometimes. It is a nightmare and makes life very difficult for some people.

PuffinMcStuffin · 04/06/2022 13:31

No. I will continue to let my infant children pee behind a bush until they are old enough to make it safely to the toilet. Find something else to get your knickers in a twist about.

(I do carry poo bags though so should they need a poo and be caught short I'll always pick it up, like I do with my dog).

You sound nice….

You don’t have to watch brainless disgusting parents take their kids to the bushes to do their business. Just mind your own business and get on with your day.

If this riles you up so much then report it to the police. (Not that they’d do anything) or council. Not complain on Mumsnet. Weird.

Will you? I have a toddler so spend a fair amount of time in playgrounds and have only seen this once or twice. It's not a daily occurrence, let alone a never ending procession.

DSGR · 04/06/2022 13:35

My kids pee behind bushes but I wouldn’t let them poo. Not that it’s any business of yours!

Bigtruth · 04/06/2022 13:35

This won't be massively controversial I'm sure 🙄

Pooing in bushes I do find very grim personally but going back for a quick piss, I can't get too het up about that to be honest.
I have no idea how many kids are shitting in the bushes but I wouldn't imagine it to be a huge number.

LisaSimpson77 · 04/06/2022 13:35

Are you talking about a quick wee in the bush? In which case I think it's completely normal and not that big of a deal.
Or are you talking about actually having a poo in which case I'm stunned that this is a regular thing in your local park because it's not something I've ever witnessed and yes parents should definitely pick it up and dispose of it, just like dog poo...if they really can't use a toilet.

Vikinga · 04/06/2022 13:36

It rarely happens in my experience of 2 decades of being a mum. I have sometimes taken my kids to do a wee behind bushes but not often. It isn't a problem. I've never seen human poo. One of my kids once did a poo but I had happy bags and wipes because of my younger kids and he did it there.

internetpersonme · 04/06/2022 13:38

No i don't spend my day sat on a bench near a children's play area watching them pee how strange.

Twizbe · 04/06/2022 13:39

One of our local parks with playground doesn't actually have any toilets (well it does but the bowls club won't allow non members to use their massive toilet block)

So what is a parent to do? It's the only park where we will do bush wees as there is no alternative.

Oh and I also pick up any poo that might have to happen.

I did have a travel potty but both children have now grown out of it.

If you seriously think it's acceptable then maybe dog owners can apply the same logic! If a parent knows that their offspring have a problem maybe they too need to carry little bags.

Im sure if you read the responses you’ll see many parents DO carry little bags.

Why you so angry? 😂
Are you OP’s friend? Do you sit on a park bench all day watching these brainless parents take their kids for shits in the bushes day in day out?

Justme10 · 04/06/2022 13:49

The thing is there needs to be more public toilets, there are 6 parks in my local area and only 1 has toilets because it's a country park and has a cafe.

All public toilets in my area are closed even the ones near parks. Kids have to pee and you can't expect small children to hold it in.
I do agree parents should be picking it up though, it would be unacceptable to leave it.

Georgeskitchen · 04/06/2022 13:51

Having a wee behind a Bush is a world away from taking a dump. Would any of you be happy If your child playing in the park got covered in human shit?

No, didn't think so!!

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 04/06/2022 13:53

I've been a parent for 14 years and never have my children or any that I know needed to poo in a bush at the park. A wee yes, but never have I known kids to poo in a bush at the park.

HappyDays40 · 04/06/2022 13:55

People who watch children toileting in bushes in parks often get locked up......just saying.

LondonQueen · 04/06/2022 13:56

I've let my kids pee behind a bush before, don't see the issue with it?

VintageVest · 04/06/2022 13:58

I spend loads of time in parks and play grounds and have never noticed this. Wees yes, but I've never seen a procession of small children and piles of shit.

bloodyplanes · 04/06/2022 13:58

Its simply entitled, lazy parenting. Ive had four and never had my children needing to go to toilet in a bush. Either make sure there are toilets near by or take a portable potty.

stuntbubbles · 04/06/2022 14:00

Never ever seen or heard of a small child crapping in a bush. Wild wees totally acceptable, they can’t all hold it to get to the one faraway loo in a giant park.

CrabbyCat · 04/06/2022 14:01

I'm another one who lets kids wee as our local park has no toilets and we live a 20 min walk away and wee is sterile anyway. I've never known anyone let their kids poo on the ground and have never seen any evidence in the bushes. Everyone I know with unpredictable toddlers who might need a poo took some form of travel potty everywhere with them.

For the comparison with dogs, dogs wee everywhere too, I've never seen anyone try and catch it to take it home!

Dsisproblem · 04/06/2022 14:01

One of my kids has had a shit in a bush. I picked it up and put it in a bin with a dog poo bag 🤷🏻‍♀️

BattenburgDonkey · 04/06/2022 14:03

There’s no way you sit at the park and watch child after child go and poo in bushes (and if you do please stop, you are watching too closely if you can tell if it’s poo or wee). Wee yeah probably but pooing in bushes is just not that common.

Thankfully my local park has toilets, I’d let them pee in a bush if caught short but none of mine have ever had to poo on the floor outside, I agree that’s grim.

NippyWoowoo · 04/06/2022 14:03

Urine is sterile. Also stop comparing animals to children.

PatchworkElmer · 04/06/2022 14:06

I’m sure they’re just going for a wee. It’s really not a big deal.
