To think this government

have just set out ways for their rich friends and themselves to become richer, any policies that would interfere with that process are binned and now that they have these policies in place they can sit back and not worry about the poor middle class losing their disposable income.

30 more billionaires have been made in the last 2 years, so whilst the country is supposedly struggling how and what are people becoming richer? the divide is growing bigger between rich and poor and the middle class are going to have a shock when earning £50k a year is not enough to pay the bills, having to go to a one car family instead of two and watch every penny they spend.

am I being unreasonable to think this was the plan, stuff the man int he street and only look after the ultra wealthy

Yep, totally agree, I think their attitude is disgusting. The contracts issued at the beginning of the pandemic were all about jobs for the boys without a care as to how much it costs and without a care as to whether they were the right company for the job. They don't give a shit about the average working person, blatantly break the rules and get away with it with no consequences. It's like they just rub it in our faces and we have to get on with it, struggle to get by and survive.
They haven't got a bloody clue about the hardships of the real world. Too rich to give a fuck about the plebs.
Dd is due to go to uni next year and we're wondering how the hell we can afford to send her with the cost of everything skyrocketing.
I just feel ground down by it all. And the 'but you voted for them' comments will probably come thick and fast on this thread, but no I bloody didn't and I definitely won't.

Ducksinthebath · 25/05/2022 16:12

I think that was always the plan. Interesting to see how things pan out after today. I suspect even if Johnson goes, the new broom will buy them a few more years of milking the cash cow for all it's worth.

orwellwasright · 25/05/2022 16:13

Of course. Tories gonna Tory.

ivykaty44 · 25/05/2022 17:05

@Ducksinthebath. johnson will not resign - thats not going to happen and no one else wants the job

What makes you think Labour would do any different. Don't forget we are still paying off billions in debt that the previous Labour government left

StoneofDestiny · 25/05/2022 17:43

What makes you think Labour would do any different?

Oh well then, let's keep this disreputable government in power forever. Surely we can never expect to have another leader of another party that tells the truth to Parliament, that behaves as if they have a moral compass, that doesn't try to prorogue Parliament to force unacceptable things through to law and that deceives the public about the effect of an action.
For goodness sake!
Stop blaming Labour for something they are not responsible for - they are not in office - the Tories are!

Berniesknittedmittens · 25/05/2022 17:47

We have only recently paid off the debt from world war 2, what is your point exactly?

In my experience Tory voters fall into two categories: they are thick or wealthy! I have no time for anyone who could actively vote for this government, the electorate have blood on their hands.

The only person mentioning Labour is you, they aren’t relevant to the OP’s post.

So sick and tired of how we are divided artificially into 2 groups- disagree with Tories then you must be Labour. There are many many people who are politically homeless. It is such a ridiculous thing to glibly trot out ‘but Labour... ‘

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/05/2022 18:05

YANBU @ivykaty44. PM Johnson's Tory party don't care about the middle classes. They have tapped in to a new demographic and no longer need your votes. He will do as he likes and his very wealthy friends will benefit.🤷‍♀️

On the bright side, he's absolutely destroying the Conservative Party.😆

Timeforabiscuit · 25/05/2022 18:12

The next general election isn't any later than 24th Jan 2025 - I think that's too long, I was half joking to dh that I'd rather re-instate the monarchy than put up w8th another 3 years of Conservative policy.

If this was happening under a Labour government there would be a thread about Labour. But they're not. This is not a thread for Baa Baa Baat Layyybuurrr 🐏 fanfic.Hmm

PM Johnson and his Tory party are in charge of all our lives. And they're really damaging the UK.

JoanWilderbeast · 25/05/2022 19:01

It does seem a bit like the dying flames of a final rinsing going on, which the people in the know, know about and so don't give a proverbial about much of anything anymore.

balalake · 25/05/2022 19:12

It is only Labour governments that have ever had a year or two with a budget surplus. It is Tory governments that have reduced the police and armed forces in size. It is under this government that the tax take is at its highest since the late 1940s.

ButtockUp · 25/05/2022 19:38

I've always thought that the economy must be prudently controlled as , otherwise, inflation, interest rates and and unemployment rises otherwise.

I'm nearly 60.
Vaguely remember Ted Heath... remember Wilson, Callaghan, Thatcher , Major etc...

I've always admired them for their own integrity. Whether you agreed with them or not, they believed in their politics and had integrity .

This bumbling clown is only interested in remaining in power.
He's thrown scores of underlings to the wolves.
He just won't accept that he has lied, misled or covered up.
His cronies are also hellbent on clinging on to power.

I've never seen the like.
Even Thatcher would have sent him packing.

😆😆😆😆 Sure we are. Because 'Call me' Dave and George Osborne didn't actually increase the debt*. Time to stop blaming the previous incumbent, Buttercup.

  • They did

Here we go. Whataboutism!!
The tories wasted more than that in the first few weeks of the pandemic!

ivykaty44 · 25/05/2022 22:48

Well if you want to thank the Tory party for all they’ve done, there is a chance on 18th June for anyone to go to london

We are in trouble as long as he is PM

The conservatives keep peddling that line despite them being in power for almost all the time they have existed as a party. I really doubt that a few years of Labour government are to blame for what the country has experienced in the decades before and after they were in power.

Happygirl79 · 25/05/2022 22:54

We have been let down by our MPs. Their job is to represent the people of their constituency. They are backing Johnson to feather their own nests instead of doing the right thing for the people

GetThatHelmetOn · 25/05/2022 22:55

And I agree, it is the lack for integrity that is dismal in this government, we have the Bullingdon Club running the country and they are not any better than they were back then.

^This one hundred times

if they don’t want to lose the power fine, but at least have the decency to put someone responsible in charge.

butimjayigetaway · 25/05/2022 23:05

No, because that would be a conspiracy and people in power don't conspire.
