To think I shouldn't need to consult DH before making a GP appointment?

Just looking for opinions really.

I asked on here a week or so ago about my 9 month olds leg dragging when she crawls. I got lots of comments that it was normal but also a couple that it could be a sign of hip problems etc so it would be wise to have it checked. So I have made a GP appointment for next month.

Anyway my husband is pretty cross about this. He thinks she is absolutely fine and doesn't need to be dragged off to the doctors and we basically ended up in a bit of a row where I said it's no big deal and I think I should be able to take her to a GP without needing to run it by him.

But AIBU? Should doctors appointments be discussed by both parents?

He sounds very odd. Even if he’s not worried about hip you are and it’s not like you are dragging baby anywhere and subjecting them to anything invasive. 5 mins at Gp getting checked. Either will be all ok or not sure I’ll refer baby to hospital. Better to err on side of caution.

OP it sounds like the issue is more that you aren't taking your DH's word as gospel ("very offended") and that the question of going to the doctor or not is a bit of a red herring, really.

Is he like this if you take an alternative viewpoint to him about anything else? It's very odd to be taking such a stand about not getting your child checked out for a potential issue - there is no chance of you doing her any harm in having her looked at, whereas he could potentially be doing her harm in insisting that she does not see a professional, so is his issue just that you are not obeying what he says? Why is he so insistent that you take his word for it? I assume he isn't medically qualified/doesn't have x-ray vision, so what on earth makes him think he could possibly know with any assurance?

YANBU and he sounds controlling

Not the point of the thread but my DS1 was dragging his leg when he started crawling at 7 months. Took him to the GP with same concern as you. GP was also concerned, said it was abnormal and made an urgent referral. DS1 had a scan the following week and it was normal. He's 7 now and absolutely fine

Thank you all for the replies, it has reinforced how I feel. It is definitely better to be safe than sorry.
