How many sausages could you eat in one sitting?

just polished off my 6th chicken (non pork) sausage for tea and I was wondering how many could MN eat in one sitting

With veggie sausages, the decent ones can be prohibitively expensive which further discourages me from serving too many at once. My Quorn Best Of British ones are four in a pack but they are generous. My DC prefer Cauldron which are smaller (I'm sure they weren't before. The meat-free movement has not been good for longstanding users of non-meat products. Now, the prices have hyper inflated and anything decent is hardly ever in stock. They used to languish inside the shop freezers foe months until I took pity on them and bought them back in the good ol' days!

LakieLady · 21/05/2022 16:27

Depends on the size of the sausage, surely? If it was the lovely big, fat ones from my local farm shop, probably 6, but I might need a few minutes rest halfway through, to let the first 3 go down.

Chipolatas, probably 10, or even 12.

For fun? Like 4.

If it were a competition though..... 😈

😆

Yes, there's a big difference in coulds isn't there? And could is different from would.

I'd have three as part of a dinner but if forced at gunpoint, (or not even at gunpoint) I could eat many many more.

SoftSheen · 21/05/2022 16:31

2 max, but I'm not a big meat eater. I'd rather have lots of sides.

Scorchedterf · 21/05/2022 16:31

I usually only have them for breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs etc, so, one or two sausages would do me. For dinner, I’d share a pack with DH so maybe 3 Cumberland sausages each with mash, onion gravy and cabbage. I might possibly save one of my sausages for a snack later.

dottiedodah · 21/05/2022 16:31

2 to 3 depending on size.If lots of potato .If on their own about 4 /5!

HeatherShiver · 21/05/2022 16:35

Probably 4 max, but my weirdly slim ex once ate 13 on the lounge thing at Manchester Airport

MyneighbourisTotoro · 21/05/2022 16:37

@PurpleDaisies nope, for normal sized sausages definitely only two.
I might have 3 chipolatas if I’m feeling hungrier than usual.
Perosnally I couldn’t eat more than two as I’d feel ill, I know my husband would happily eat 4 if I gave him that many but I’m in charge of portion sizes.

Halloweenadoodle · 21/05/2022 16:43

Could - i reckon at least 20 to 25 normal pork sausages.
Would - 4 in a baguette with ketchup

SexyLittleNosferatu · 21/05/2022 16:46

Easily 4.

NotMushroomInEre · 21/05/2022 16:56

I have 4 of the Richmond meat-free ones with mash, veg and gravy. I'd have 4 in a sandwich. I'd eat 8 if I was just having the sausage.

SeedyBloomer · 21/05/2022 17:07

Three.

LynneBenfield · 21/05/2022 17:11

2 maybe but it isn’t a portion control thing, I just don’t really like sausages.

OverByYer · 21/05/2022 17:17

2 or 3 depending on size .

orwellwasright · 21/05/2022 17:23

WHAT.

A single sausage is enough for a family of four for a fortnight.

AdobeWanKenobi · 21/05/2022 17:23

Half a cocktail sausage, divided into thirteen small portions and served over the course of a month. If I'm really hungry I'll divide it into fourteen and have an extra slice.

Clarinet1 · 21/05/2022 17:24

My standard sausage dinner tends to be 3 (half a pack of supermarket posh ones eg Lincolnshire’s) and a tub of readymade Colcannon mash. Spot of ketchup - delicious!

MajesticElephant · 21/05/2022 17:28

I normally only eat 2, just through habit, but if they’ve been on the BBQ then all gloves are off and I’ll eat as many as are going!

Gingerkittykat · 21/05/2022 17:28

If calories didn't exist I would happily eat 4 sausages as part of a main meal and 3 on a cooked breakfast (I don't like bacon though) but limit myself to two. I would tend to either buy the Asda extra special cumberland or Asda turkey so they are big chunky sausages.

roarfeckingroarr · 21/05/2022 17:29

On their own? I reckon four or five. I might then squeeze in the sixth, so to speak, half an hour later.

warofthemonstertrucks · 21/05/2022 20:20

8 no bother

Pourmeanotherwine · 21/05/2022 20:24

3 for a normal meal. More maybe at a BBQ with a few drinks.

SoManyTshirts · 21/05/2022 20:24

Could eat … probably 5 of the ones that come in a pack of 8.

Do eat … 2 with mash, beans and another veg, or in hotpot, pasta etc;
Maybe 3 if there weren’t enough veg around.

Oysterbabe · 21/05/2022 20:27

Those chicken ones are only like 50 calories. 1 average pork sausage has 3 - 4 times that.

Libertaire · 21/05/2022 20:28

Standard size supermarket six-to-a-pack sausages, I would have three, but I could easily eat five or six if I allowed myself.
