just polished off my 6th chicken (non pork) sausage for tea and I was wondering how many could MN eat in one sitting

4 or 5 with a meal, depending on size. More than a dozen on their own, if I was really hungry.
DCs get 2 here and adults get 3 as a rule. However DD(12) ate 7 last time we went for a buffet breakfast!

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2022 15:44

Usual portion would be three (veggie fake meat type) as part of dinner-mash, sausage pasta etc. I could more though. On their own? Most likely four or five.

Chanel05 · 21/05/2022 15:54

I usually go for 2.5.

RJnomore1 · 21/05/2022 15:56

3 with mash, 2 in a grill. It’s not that it fills me as much as I start to feel slightly queasy.

HelloTreacle9 · 21/05/2022 15:57

This thread reminded me I had a cold sausage in the fridge. It is now in my tummy. Also thank you to the PP who used the word ‘girth’.

That's not a bad benchmark. My husband reckons he could eat 3 roast chickens 🤨

I reckon I could do 3 McDonalds double cheeseburgers, but I definitely couldn't do 3 Five Guys burgers.

I’ve had six chicken sausages too. It was quite easily done

Where do you get them from. Haven't found any good chicken ones.

Soffit · 21/05/2022 16:00

I have two veggie ones and restrict DC to three max. I once made the mistake of asking DS how many he would like out of a pack of six tofu ones. He asked for all six so I decided to play deaf. I did not want it to set a precedent. I don't think he would eat more than four anyway.

MaryMaryQuiteLairy · 21/05/2022 16:05

My colleague cooks 6, eats 3 for her tea with mash then brings the other 3 into work with salad for her lunch
Sausage salad
I had no idea that was a thing and I love sausages and I love salads but just no Shock

Chasingclouds100 · 21/05/2022 16:06

4 each for me and the kids as part of a meal with mash and veg, 6 for DH 😋

DolphinaPD · 21/05/2022 16:07

Depends on the size of sausage and what else is with them 🤔

Handyweatherstation · 21/05/2022 16:09

If they're part of a gravy dinner, two. Pathetic, isn't it 😅

DolphinaPD · 21/05/2022 16:12

I'd serve 4 as standard as a meal and probably pinch at least 2 after.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 21/05/2022 16:13

Do you mean just a plate or sausages or anything with them?

I will only ever have 2 with a normal dinner.

If I can’t be bothered to cook and I’m making sausage sandwiches then I might have 2 and a half sausages in my sandwich.
My DH would have two sausage sandwiches plus some trimmings (cheese, lettuces etc).

Irishfarmer · 21/05/2022 16:14

Depends, in a fry I have 2 (+rashers/eggs). Toad in the hole or similar I have about 4. I like clonakilty sausages so they aren't massive.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/05/2022 16:14

I could never manage more than two and I’m not slim!

MyneighbourisTotoro · 21/05/2022 16:17

How is anyone able to eat 4 or more with mash and veg etc? That’s an insane amount of food!

Svara · 21/05/2022 16:17

Well it really depends if it's could or would. Would eat up to three, usually two. Could, no idea, but six would leave me feeling unwell.

MrsRinaDecker · 21/05/2022 16:20

I serve two as a portion and wouldn’t want more. Ds will often take a third, and then eat any leftovers for breakfast. I like them with cheesy polenta and broccoli as a change from mash 😋

Surely that depends on which sausages, how much mash and which veg.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 21/05/2022 16:21

Obviously it depends what you’re eating them with. I would normally have 2-3 but that would be as part of a fry up, with mashed potato and veg, in a sandwich with bacon etc. It’s unlikely I would ever cook more than 3 at once to give myself the option but if for some reason I cooked up a big batch (Eg: freezer broke and needed to use them up) I might eat more, I’m sure I could eat 6 if I wasn’t having so much on the side. In some sort of competitive eating scenario I could probably eat far more too, I don’t believe anybody on here saying they couldn’t physically eat more than 2!

Oblomov22 · 21/05/2022 16:24

3

ItOnlyAMovie · 21/05/2022 16:26

Just the one. Quorn.

Crankley · 21/05/2022 16:26

I would eat two chipolatas.

AgnesNaismith · 21/05/2022 16:26

4 but if they were the bbq spicy sausages you can only really get from Portugal - 1566
