To think more men than we think are undercover paedophiles

Watching the pedophile hunter on Netflix - in summary it is about a vigilante group who go onto dating sites 18+ but post pictures of girls who look underage and then when the guy chats to them tells them they're 11 or 12 etc.

The men carry on chatting and then arrange to meet - they don't tell the girls they're too young.

This is so sad and troubling. These men were originally looking for women and then got drawn in by children. How many husbands, sons, work colleagues are doing this - what can we do as society to better sniff it out?

Sad and sickening. What can we do to protect children from this?

IMO a lot of these so called paedophile hunters are paedophiles hiding in plain sight.

I agree with this / I feel sometimes when people are so 'passionately' for something it is often because of a hidden agenda,

This is what I think as well. After all, if you aren’t a peadophile, how could you possibly engage in some of the conversations they engage in online without being physically ill. They get kicks pretending to be a child discussing sex acts.

Don't forget that many of these hunters are either parents or were themselves groomed and abused. Parents naturally hate these men. If you've got a 10-year-old daughter, the thought of her being seduced in this way is enough to give you nightmares. By hunting these men down, parents feel they're taking back control. It reduces their paranoia and fear (just as people who dread, say, cancer raise money for cancer research). Those who were abused might want revenge, or to prevent it happening to someone else.

But I know what you mean. In some cases they just like the attention. They like feeling morally superior. As you say, deep down some of them probably harbor such desires themselves. By taking part in these stings they not only rid themselves of shame, they get to take the moral high ground as well.

Oh dear. Here we go.
What about people who have not reproduced, @Kris02? They don't give a shit about child abuse?

Do you know how many 10 year old daughters have been seduced/abused by their own parent?

Child abusers hide in plain sight.
They look just like people who do not abuse children.
They are office workers, nurses, teachers, bin men, IT experts, gardeners ... parents.
