Do you believe in the paranormal..??

So I know this is VERY controversial.. but I have just had an experience I cannot explain.

I was in the living room, tv on and relaxing on my own. I am the only one in my house tonight. DP is working away so I've settled in for a night in front of the telly to catch up on rubbish tv Grin

Anyway. I was relaxing alone when I saw what I can only explain to be a gentleman, wearing long overalls leaning up against the kitchen door, back towards me. He looked completely real, solid.. not the way you expect a typical ghost to look 🤣😅

Anyway. I sat there, completely frozen. I didn't know what to do, just in complete shock. I blinked and rubbed my eyes so many times thinking at some point, this man would go. But no. He stood there still, facing away from me.

Eventually he turned slowly to face me.. but in this effortless glide. Does that make any sense?! It was like the hand on a clock, just a smooth motion. It was really strange.. he looked right at me, in the eye.. smiled and disappeared just as quickly as he appeared.

I am dumbfound!! I've never experienced anything like it before. I don't know what to think. Am I going mad?! I'm not tired, haven't been drinking... I'm so confused! What could this mean?!

I'm sleeping here alone tonight. I don't think I want to! Blush

If there were such a thing as ghosts, conclusive evidence would have been produced by now. My guess is you drifted off to sleep and had a vivid dream.

But if you saw a patient in a hospital in their gown or pyjamas, or someone in modern clothes in the street you wouldn't see anything out of the ordinary and you wouldn't think "ghost" or paranormal as it would just be, well, normal!

Well if I saw them in my room (where only I am supposed to be) then they suddenly disappeared I think I’d notice.

Mummysgogetter · 20/05/2022 06:18

@Luculentus conclusive evidence does not exist for other forms of life on other planets, but just because we don’t have the evidence does not confirm conclusively that there is absolutely nothing out there.

2TheLighthouse · 20/05/2022 06:34

I liked the ant analogy someone upthread used. We are so tiny and ignorant in the grand scheme of things, there could be all sorts of stuff we just haven’t seen/understood yet.

I like to be rational too, but I guess at some point, our expertise runs out (and by ‘our expertise’ I mean humanity’s). It’s all very well saying that if there were ghosts we’d know by now - but why would we? We’re still relatively new. In the past they didn’t know about bacteria, atoms, the solar system… the list is endless. Those people were humans like us but it’s no good saying ‘why didn’t they know about molecular chemistry?’ They just hadn’t got there yet!

That's because we can't reach other planets. We can reach this one.

It could have been a ghost. People who are adamant they don’t exist are either stupid, arrogant or have issues. They can say “in their opinion…” or “no scientific evidence exists which proves the existence of ghosts”. - They are trying to pass their opinion off as fact. What such a ghost is, well that’s a separate question.

it could have been a combination of lucid dreaming/sleep paralysis

if this is a one off with no other symptoms it’s unlikely to be anything medical keep an eye out though if it keeps happening, start having blackouts, headaches etc

theres a lot in this universe we don’t understand yet (at least on a rational basis). One thing is for sure in 200 years we will probably laugh at much at todays scientific perspective and conclusions as being simplistic and very incomplete.

if this was something paranormal there’s very little chance it will cause you any harm and likely just passing through your field of perception which could be more open for some reason at that moment.

TabithaTittlemouse · 20/05/2022 19:33

@Tamzo85 are you okay hun?

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 20/05/2022 19:36

I don't believe.

And I also suspect that houses older than about 50 years there would have seen many deaths.

crochetmonkey74 · 20/05/2022 19:53

I love ghostly threads

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 20/05/2022 19:57

Yes, I do believe in the paranormal. Yes, you could've been asleep, but you say you weren't, and I think the reason you didn't scream or reach for the phone is that you knew this was a ghost and wasn't a threat.

orbitalcrisis · 20/05/2022 20:23

I am autistic so my brain does some really strange things. I often get auditory and olfactory hallucinations as well as phantom sensations, it would be very easy for me to think it was 'ghosts', but it's not, it's all in my head!

Carbon Monoxide sounds more likely

I was thinking this, that there was something environment of the building that was making people hallucinate, infrasound or as you say carbon monoxide.

Yes, I’ve been ghosted many times.

You win today!! 🤣

Hawkins001 · 21/05/2022 13:30

Thing is if something that's like out of doctor who, happened chances are it would be covered up

I mean, I'm sure over 390 years you'd be hard pressed to find a spot where someone hadn't died, tbf.

I’m currently watching the BBC Ghosts programme. Love it!

Jezebell · 22/05/2022 09:38

@Vallmo47

I am glad to read that you are better now. Do you think in hindsight perhaps that your vision of your mum was some kind warning of things to come ? That she was offering comfort and would be by your side through it?

Vallmo47 · 22/05/2022 10:46

@Jezebell Aww that’s a lovely way to think of it. She was a massive part of the episode nearly throughout, as if she was inside of me speaking. It was terrible when episode was about to end, I had to say goodbye to her all over again. That was the weirdest part- being sad to go back to normal. I’m playing it down here really, I was so unwell. 😘

Sorry, I'm still fairly new, so ive only just seen this thread!

I love a good ghost story, but have come across a few people who don't!
Each to their own though, don't let them spoil your interest & enjoyment 🙂

If they try to mock you about it, direct them to this, it made me chuckle 😆

Paranormal Pilgrim’s guide to non-believers

At some moment in time, all of us have been part of a conversation regarding the paranormal and it’s always interesting to see people’s reactions, especially if (up until that point) they’ve never revealed their opinions before. Nowadays, most people k...
