Neighbour knocking to find parcel

Dotdotdot21 · 17/05/2022 23:24

Just had an unknown man knock at my door claiming his parcel had been delivered to my house .
He lives in the road behind . He was looking at his phone and claims app said parcel was delivered to here.
when I asked what the parcel was he said furniture.
I was polite but after he had gone I am
thinking why would I take furniture in for a house in the next street for someone I don’t know? Have I just been accused of stealing ? The app clearly never said a number but the map on it directed it to our house.
Am I being unreasonable to be annoyed.

‘This thread is wild. OP, I think you actually did steal his package, which is why you’re being so defensive about the “app accusing you of stealing”. Now you’re canvassing to see if there’s a way your thieving ways could be exposed!’

You just made my day 😂

This is a regular thing where I live - there are 3 roads with similar names all within the same postcode e.g AB23 - lets say Larch Avenue, Larch Close and Larch Lane - I think the delivery drivers put in AB32 Larch... and just go to Larch Avenue - that's 3 right angles away from me - about 500m away - I'm up a cul-de-sac - I've had 3 trees delivered to other peoples houses - I get the text saying delivered but then I have to go looking for it. Amazon seem not to take photo's any more (trees were not from Amazon). I had my neighbour across the road come across when I was still in bed early one morning as she'd been told I had accepted it - neither of us had any idea where it was. When I have items that go missing but are marked as delivered they sometimes turn up on my doorstep much later in the day or even the next day - no idea where they have been in the meantime. Amazon deliveries in particular are now far worse than they used to be - so every Amazon order I place is now a last resort - if I can't find it elsewhere at a similar price. I've given up complaining to Amazon about the problems related to Larch Avenue/Close/Lane. The problem is not yours if your neighbour comes looking for something - he has to chase it up with the delivery company. The only thing I will add is that I always make sure my back door is locked before I answer the front door - it used to be a well known tactic to keep someone talking at the front door while someone nips in at the back to pinch something.

Thank you for all your comments . Sorry haven’t been back earlier - been busy all day building flat pack furniture 🤣

I don't think he's at all unreasonable to come around and ask.

I once had some men from a shop turn up at un-godly-o'clock with a sofa held between them... They started trying to bring it in the moment I opened the door, but it was for the next street over! The names are very similar though. Think along the lines of Flower Gardens and Flower Terrace.

I could have had myself a new washing machine a couple of months ago 😜
