Vinted Balance Gone into Unknown Account

SwimmingwiththeFishes · 16/05/2022 23:00

Hoping that using the browser means I’ll get paragraphs!

So firstly, I know this is my fault and ultimately my responsibility = IABU….but

I've been selling on Vinted the last couple of months as have a lot of maternity and baby clothes I'll have no more use for as DC2 is growing.

I originally set the account up last year and dabbled a bit and made a few withdrawals with no problem

I'd got a reasonable budget and wanted to treat DH for his birthday so clicked 'withdraw' and took out £250 I had made.

I waited a week and nothing appeared. I then went back into the balance section and realised I didn’t recognise the account number listed (only shows last four digits). I haven’t changed my account in the last two years

Ive raised this with Vinted but they keep asking me to send a screenshot from that specific account showing the balance didn’t transfer. Which obviously I can’t do as I don’t recognise the account.

i realise I should have spotted that the numbers didn’t look right before withdrawing the balance but I’m slightly lost on what else to do. I’ve asked them when the new bank details were added but it’s like they don’t understand what I’m saying and just repeat the same question.

Has anyone had any experience of this as I’m slowly realising I need to expect to not get this money back!

Oh no - that sounds like a nightmare and it drives me crazy when you can't speak to anyone who seems to understand the actual problem! How have you been contacting them? Might it be worth trying an alternative such as social media?

BaileysAndNachosDontMix · 16/05/2022 23:47

Is it an old card number the last 4 digits are from? Have you had a new card since you set up your account

if so the money should bounce back to your vinted account balance within 14days

That's what I originally thought as I have changed cards but it looks like a bank account and sort code as that what I had to put in to get it changed.

Tom pretty certain I haven't been hacked as my password is very unique and not used elsewhere and someone could easily have transferred the balance that had been sitting there a while

Annoyingly they don't seem to have much social media and the only way to contact them is via messages through their app. But this is where I just keep being asked the same thing. Annoying!

God the app update is fucking rubbish. Quote function is so messy now!

I'm just updating this thread in case anyone has similar issues in the future

I raised this with Vinted about a month ago now and they launched an investigation. I've been asked lots of questions and they've said as this has been raised as a wider issue, it will take some time to resolve

I may be reading too much into this but you can only change the bank account linked to an account with a two step security where they text a unique reference to your phone (I did this recently). This never happened.

As they also mention a 'wider issue' I'm wondering if this was an internal problem whereby someone found a way around this and did it on multiple accounts.

They haven't been dismissive, more the opposite so I've got a glimmer of hope I may get the money back. Might be wishful thinking!

I'll keep this thread updated whatever the outcome.

Hi . Vinted operate behind a media stonewall ( like you would expect a criminal enterprise to behave )
Unfortunately for them they still have to commission other company's in the U.K to assist them to internationally trade
They have a Legal counsel based in London - Sam Holdsworth
[email protected]
And a wanky P.R agency
Neil Johnson looks after their P.R
[email protected]
Email both and demand they sort your issue in the next 3 working days
Hope this helps. Everyone who emails or calls the P.R company put pressure on Vintec to sort their shit out. 0203 793 3800. Hope this gives you some hope !

Alicedaisy888 · 30/07/2022 19:20

This seems to have happened to a lot of people . The payment platform Mangopay has lost the plot .
They have' lost' £400 of my money and are blaming my banking details ( which have not changed ) and I have successfully withdrawn to for over a year .THIS IS NOT your fault .
Vinted operate behind a stonewall and you cannot speak to anybody with decision making power ( a bit like a secretive criminal organisation) they do however need to employ outside companies to operate internationally.
They have a wanky P.R agency representing them in London .
Havas P.R .Neil Johnson looks after their publicity
0203 793 3800
[email protected]
and a Legal counsel based in the U.K
Sam Holdsworth [email protected]
Contact them a start to put pressure on them . Vinted and Mangopay owe a lot if people a lot of money .
Good luck ! C

Sorry seem to have posted to similar posts . One was meant for another thread.

Hello, I was wondering how you got on with this issue? Iv just had the exact same thing happen to me and waiting for vinted to get back to me is been a pain 🤦🏼‍♀️ the withdrawal has just happened so I was hoping they could cancel it before the fraudsters got the money. I'm absolutely gutted

SwimmingwiththeFishes · 28/03/2023 15:09

Hi @Louisewood2304 sorry, just seen this

I actually ended up taking Vinted to small claims. I had 6 months on communication where they did nothing and just kept sending me the same message over and over that they were looking into it

I also had emails I'd sent to their ceo that were unanswered

They paid it out to me so I got my money, the fee for raising a claim (£35) and interest on the money.

I'm sort of kicking myself I didn't do this earlier as it was bloody easy, I didn't have to submit anything (but I had to be sure I had screenshots/emails in case they fought it)

I guess it's easier for them to pay it out than bother with man hours in fighting it

Hi, how did you exactly come to your money. Cuz I’m waiting also more then 1 month😏

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 25/01/2024 13:33

Slight derail, I get that people like to leave their balance so they can use it for purchases (sort of feels "free" then) but I don't think it's the smartest move to let it get any higher than £20 tbh. Regardless of the bank you've connected it to.

I immediately withdraw as soon as £ hits my Vinted balance where it goes to my current account then I transfer it to a savings account I have set up just for treats

After battling with them in the chat function for several months I took them to small claims court.

Very easy to do. Cost me £30 and they had to pay me back plus my £30 fee

I‘m glad you got your money, OP. The more I read on Vinted the more put off I am as a seller.

It sounds like Vinted are frauds.

Dm6 · 05/02/2024 10:53

Thank you for sharing. I already reached almost 500 in my vinted wallet😏..now I filled form but I don’t know where I must to send that in court in Lithuania or?

SwimmingwiththeFishes · 05/02/2024 11:02

Hi @Dm6 . Did you fill out the small claims form

You don't need to send it to anyone. You just need to put Vinted's UK address on it. You can find this on companies house

Can you clarify which form you mean and which bit you need help with and I can have a look at what I put

OP posts:
Dm6 · 05/02/2024 23:15

Hmm..this it says where I filled the form…

  1. ’Fill out Form A and send it to the court that has the jurisdiction over the claim. This could be in the country where your business is established or in the other EU country concerned.’
Emmaclair85 · 20/02/2024 17:20
