To ask you to give me a new surname?

Marriages/divorces (my own and parents), deed poll and other circumstances mean that I am currently on my fourth surname.
Each surname has belonged to a different man, a father, a stepfather, a husband etc. Not having had a particularly good relationship with any of them, I have never felt that any of these names belonged to me.
I want to change my surname. I want a name that belongs to me.
Any suggestions?

Sunrise, meadows, moondance, breeze, Celeste, shore, woods

Or pick a nature name but in another language, but people might ask questions about it.

Do you have a favourite plant or flower? Or a place in nature you like to visit, but can adapt slightly?

You could always browse round the paint section in B&Q and find some interesting names for your favourite colour 🙂

@DingDongBellPussysInTheWell the first name you suggested is my maiden name, i was a bit reluctant swap to DHs more boring name but it was just more convenient in the end...

Do you have any links to places that you are close to - its nice to have some linkage/historical connection. I know there is a lot of concern that a name is a man's name but your grandfathers name was also your grandma and your mothers so you can reclaim it.
My name was (sort of/feminine version of) my fathers who i never really had a relationship with but i now feel its mine as all my qualifications are in this name, or my professional life has had this name , - its an odd name so i have had jokes about it throughout my life - constantly had to spell it , explain it, pronounce it -0 it reflects part of my background/heritage - having an odd name has shaped me in a lot of ways and its very much part of me and i couldn't give it up

Worked with a Maria Golightly once - had name envy.

Lovely name

My surname is also the name of a Dublin train station, so it's familiar to pronounce and spell for Irish people. So I'd totally recommend a name based on a major landmark you have a connection to.
Going off London stations Euston could be nice or Marylebone?

I did work with a Mr Perfect though once. That was a fabulous name!!

Something beginning with New?

Newfield?
Newland?
Newport?

Go for something really unusual then hopefully you'll get [email protected].

I was the only one in the world (afaik) with my previous name. Changed it following divorce though

I'm toying with this too, although may change it to my late mother's maiden name - which is a flower name already mentioned on this thread.

My first name is often shortened to one syllable, though, so I'd like a longer surname - Cavendish, Carmichael and Beaumont are being considered!
