Yesterday I brought a jar of Nutella home from shopping; SIL and three kids have never seen this stuff. This morning I gave DD a piece of "tella toast" and the three kids went ape that she got chocolate for breakfast. I said "It's hazelnut spread with some cocoa in it", then SIL commented that cocoa by itself is nasty and they wouldn't like it.

I did not point out that Nutella contains sugar which makes that cocoa taste pretty dang good. I never said it didn't have sugar, I just ignored the misconception.

I love my Nutella, I don't really want to share with three hungry teenagers! You're going to say "YANBU", right? Please? Right? And is it wrong to give my own dd the odd piece of her dearly loved "tella toast" when I don't want to let the lot of them scarf the whole jar in one day?

How on earth did they fall for that???

RubySlippers · 11/01/2008 19:47

it is a replaceable jar of chocolate spread

YABU

MrsBigD · 11/01/2008 19:47

hey I'm with you on that 'tella toast' way too nice to share LOL

Bluestocking · 11/01/2008 19:50

Sorry, are you for real? It's a jar of Nutella. Your nieces and nephews eat it all, you buy another jar - or ask your SIL to do so.

BananaPudding · 11/01/2008 19:50

Poo, Ruby. I knew someone would say that.

MrsBigD · 11/01/2008 19:54

now why should she buy nutella for her sil's kids to eat it... if they like sil can buy it YANBU

also... first it's Nutella, then its something else

Bluestocking · 11/01/2008 19:55

That's the spirit, BP! Now you'll always be the cool aunt who introduced them to Nutella.

BananaPudding · 11/01/2008 19:58

Lulu How much is nutella? Buy your own for goodness sake!

I'm not averse to sharing, in fact I do all the shopping for our two families (we live together) so if they eat at home it's something I've bought. It's just that they will become Nutella-hoovers once they taste it and I'll never have another bit myself unless I eat it with my fingers in the car on the way home from shopping

I'll have to find a shop that has the big honking jar of Nutella and not the baby one I found yesterday!

I think we should all have a collection for the OP as she is obviously very broke.

lulumama · 11/01/2008 20:02

buy lidl or aldi's version, cheap as chips and just as yummy !

BananaPudding · 11/01/2008 20:05

Ah beeper, I did say I would share, didn't I? And actually, I am pathetically broke and it's a rare treat. But I will still share it
