First world problem but which is right?

I peg tops by the hem to dry on the washing line. Trousers are pegged by the bottoms.
My parents peg tops by the shoulders and trousers are pegged at the waistband.

AIBU - peg by the shoulders (tops) /waistbands (trousers)
AINBU - peg by the hems (tops) / bottoms (trousers).

Light hearted obviously.

I have a relative who hangs each item of clothing by whatever part she has hold of when she picks it up ConfusedShock I couldn't believe it, even when I saw it with my very own eyes.

DrFoxtrot · 14/05/2022 00:34

And with just one peg per item too Sad

You both are half right and half wrong.

Tops from bottom and trousers by waistband.

I do the same as you. Trousers I think the waistband needs to be free to let it dry properly because it’s a bit thicker.

I hang trousers from the waistband as the water will move from that area and down the legs.

I hang them from wherever a peg mark will be least noticeable.

Hang kids clothes and adult tops on the line on coat hangers (peg the hanger hook so it doesn’t move) - absolute game changer. Straight into the wardrobe afterwards.

Honestly, does this thread need doing AGAIN?

I suppose one good thing about HQ deciding to do away with Advanced Search is that topic that have been done 10,000 times on Mumsnet can always come across as new.

Does it matter?

There's four pages so far so people obviously want to post on it.

The person who started the thread might be new or not seen previous threads on the subject.

It's not as if there's a finite amount of space on mn, there's room for all sorts of threads.

And no one's obliged to click on a thread. Just scroll down if you it's not to your liking

What does this mean? You hang tops along the side rather than upside down/ right way up? Or you hang them upside down but only put a peg on one corner? Don’t they hang in a sort of bunch then?

Two (or three if it's a heavy top), one near the back left seam, one back right. It means the wind fills the top and it dries quicker than pegging two layers - front and back - together. Doing it to trousers (2 per leg) means the air gets inside and legs and seat/waist dry better as well.

And the quicker they dry, the less opportunity for sun bleaching.

Tops from the hem and trousers from the waistband.

Concestor · 14/05/2022 12:34

Peg waistbands open as someone has described, peg tops by armpits folded over love, small things go on octopus hanger.

I hang tops from the hem, and bottoms from the waistband. My husband hangs out shirts from the cuffs!

My mum used to say 'wear it on the top, hang it from the bottom. Wear it on the bottom, hang it from the top' Grin

This is my way
