Many yards in the UK are not remotely similar to those in Australia either. They are small as a rule certainly in towns and cities so dogs need to have exercise outside properly. It's fine to have different rules in different places but you are the only one who has been rude about the UK, saying it is backwards etc. It isn't, it is just different.
