Depends how long your loads are.

First in at 6, chucked in tumble dryer. Second put in and timer set for 5.
Washing into tumble dryer and third load put in when you get in from work.
Washing into tumble dryer and fourth load put in after tea. Put into tumble dryer before bed to dry overnight.

It does require a lot of tumble usage tho.

That must cost a fortune!

OMG - imagine though. Yes, I guess it's doable. One of the salaries would be paying entirely for the tumble drier!

I'm concerned about DS 6 with no bladder control. Have you seen anyone in the medical profession about this @ihmlsnwidhks

Yes quite a few times.

How do posters who wash 4 loads a day manage to work or do anything else? Or even dry stuff?

I don't work and use a tumble dryer. My tumble dryer is huge tho so takes 2 loads at a time.

I do like clean clothing including underwear at night after shower. We all do here. I wash things like bedding weekly including sofa blankets. Saying that i never wash bra !

I am sorry by how is 2 pairs of knickers a day excessive 😂 I have heard it all now. What do you suggest people do put dirty ones back on after their nightly bath/shower or clean ones then but don’t change in the morning? You would love my dh he averages 3 pairs of boxers in 24 hours!

Why would you wear knickers in bed?

Why would you wear knickers in bed?

Same reason you'd wear anything in bed I imagine, because you want to.

Svara · 11/05/2022 18:16

Why would you wear knickers in bed?

Because I don't want to wash multiple pair of pyjamas a week.

warofthemonstertrucks · 11/05/2022 18:37

We easily do four loads some days...2 teen girls, 2 adults, 2 under 10 boys

You say he's on the autistic spectrum? Is he diagnosed? With an EHCP? If so, it's not really for school to be dictating re: pullups.
What goes the EHCP (if he has one) say about toileting?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/05/2022 19:17

I did ask about an ehcp in my previous post

lljkk · 11/05/2022 19:23

Tumble Dryers knacker clothes, too.

OP is not just paying in time and electricity, but also in having to replace clothing & household textiles (like towels) much more often.

Allthe4s · 11/05/2022 19:28

Do you find it noisy? My machine is in the garage and when it’s on full spin I can hear it. That would literally do my head in x 4, plus the constant hum of a tumble drier.

lljkk · 11/05/2022 19:30

Come to think of it, don't TDs have to be vented carefully else they increase moisture in the house. And the lint grill cleaned often, too.

I don't wear anything in bed because personally I don't get wearing pyjamas or a nightie that just ride up, make you hot and are pretty pointless. I didn't think though that wearing knickers literally non stop is good for you. Far more likely to suffer from vaginal infections.

I can't sleep without pyjamas on, I don't get hot, in fact I'd be freezing six months of the year without them.

Not the heat pump condensing kind which are also very energy efficient.

That’s actually a myth.

Business Insider says to expect damage.
I grew up always tumble drying clothes. I didn't know any different.
Clean the lint filter enough, you know the lint has to come from somewhere.

Couldn't believe what the TD did to our cloth nappies.
Plus what happens to anything printed (more damage).
Shrinkage, too.

Family of 6 here! So
Dh work evolves food so he will wear clean every day. He works long hours too so even if he wears chef whites that day he still travels abd goes to wholesalers and can be gone from 9 am to 12pm some days. So there's a list one outfit a day from him in the wash basket. Youngest is 3. But I have started to be less bothered by mess on her clothes
If she is wearing leggings and a top in the afternoon and it's still clean by bed time. She stays in that. School uniform. 3 kids wear this 3 times a week and pe kit 2 times a week. I make them put pj's on when they get home. Unless they have a club. Then they can wear the same uniform for the whole 3 days if clean or 2 different sets if they have got very sweaty or dirty. Pe kit is same.kit worn twice. They don't do much physically really so it doesn't smell. So why clean it?

Weekend they wear what they want. I just change clothes when needed. I can wear an outfit for 3 days unless I spill something or get muddy.
Then there's bedding. 3 single, one double one super king. That can take a couple of.loads. then swimming kits.

I also work from home so if I'm behind it piles up quickly. It was our VaT quarter recently and I ended up working for 2 weeks straight getting it all sorted and filed and I still did the washing but not as much as normal and now I have a ridiculous back log of clothing to wash! So I can easily see that. I'm doing 4 loads a day at the moment to get through the back log!

The agitation in the washer does more damage than the dryer does. Most of the lint doesn’t come from drying. Hang dried clothes will have lint stuck on them.

shrinkage is from drying your clothes on the wrong heat setting and for too long. Modern dryers have better temperature control and moisture sensors so clothes cannot be over dried.

Allthe4s · 11/05/2022 23:01

The West is so rich we wee/poo in drinking water and wash barely worn clothes in drinking water 4 x a day, using loads of energy to dry it in the process.

Shocking really.

Sorry
We're in Scotland so no. I think the closest thing is the meetings where everyone comes together at school to decide oj next steps etc .and audited hrs ( 1-1)
Shame really

The adults and older children should be able to wear the same tshirts in bed as they do during the day.

We started doing this when we realised what a waste of clothes and washing it was taking our tshirts off just to put on a different one for bed.

Personally wouldn't do this as doesn't feel hygienic to me though sure its fine. However pjs are good for 2 or 3 nights.
