Yes, fresh pants morning and night!

Hand towels get mucky in 3 to 4 days.

Pillows - two on the top pillow, one on the bottom. Four pillows per bed, so 12 pillow cases per week. Protects your pillow better from drool, hair gel, wet dog paws, wet cat paws....

I can't believe people are querying this! I'm not a fastidious person... This is normal, basic hygiene levels, surely?

We use pillow protectors and wash those a few times a year. Two pillows per person. If I wore hair gel I would shower at night, I couldn't go to bed with products on.

CambsAlways · 11/05/2022 14:14

is your washing machine drum capacity small Op as that seems a lot of washing per day

Whatafielddayfortheheat · 11/05/2022 14:17

Why are people wearing underwear at night?!

SleepingStandingUp · 11/05/2022 14:17

I think the key thing is dealing with your sin who has ASD. If he's having toileting accidents regularly, he's not ready to be out of pull ups. That isn't for school to decide so ignore them. Your priority is his comfort not theirs. No advice on DS peeing in his bedroom sorry but of course you need to wash bedding, his clothes and your clothes that get peed on.

Agree waterproofs for little one. Splash / puddle suits are in most stores atm but you can get second hand on Vinted etc if money is tight. Those and wellies. He comes in, it comes off, leave it to dry and its fine for the next time.

If 9 yo is dirty from football etc, I'd get him to throw on a pair of shorts or joggers and keep his school t-shirt on. Joggers should be good for a few days. We do single use wear for uniform too but I should probably be more discerning on tips and jumpers.

If DH is getting out of uniform, does he need clean clothes every evening? Is it cos he showers at bedtime so they're sweaty from work?

To stop the spiders.

If your changing you knickers at bed tien cos you've had a shower, how are you getting hair gel on the pillow cases?

But yes, if your animals are rolling around your bed with dirty paws of course you're going to be doing more washing that most people

PeeAche2 · 11/05/2022 14:21

4 loads of washing a day... Fuuuuck.

I have nothing useful to add, I'm afraid.

But... Fuuuuck.

cigarettesNalcohol · 11/05/2022 14:26

@ihmlsnwidhks if your son is peeing in the bed in the morning before he gets up (and has taken his pill up off deliberately), why not try going into his room just before he wakes up and take him to the loo ? Effectively beating him to it. This would only work if he wakes up around the same time every day though. And would mean you getting up perhaps 5mins before he wakes. But could resolves the issue of him waking and removing pull up to pee in the bed.

MrOllivander · 11/05/2022 14:33

Pillow protectors! They don't need washing as often
I shower at night and put pjs on, no pants

justasking111 · 11/05/2022 14:39

Ate people wearing pants at night instead of pyjamas, nighties these days.

I remember being told that knockers at night encouraged thrush etc to breed

motherofawhirlwind · 11/05/2022 15:06

Loving people assuming how I sleep 😂 I cuddle my pillows, so the bottom one gets touched. They are different thicknesses and firmness so can't be swopped around. The hair gel is husbands and we shower on different schedules, but probably spend 50% of the night on the same pillow. Cats and dog creep on and off the bed at will and don't wipe their paws despite my asking...

And change your pants more than once daily, please! Let alone whoever said they wear the same trousers for 5 days. Grim.

I'm leaving this now as feel my perfectly reasonable levels of pillow usage have derailed the OP's thread. Sorry OP.

Why would I need to change my pants more than once? I get up, put clean ones on, go to work, get in and shower and don't put them back on
I wear trousers and jeans for days and they don't need washing

MissusMaisel · 11/05/2022 15:17

Do people have tiny washing machines? I don't know how else you could be doing 4 loads a day. Get a better machine, mine is a 12kg load.

schnubbins · 11/05/2022 15:27

I did 4 -5 loads a day for years when my two kids were at home . What with clothes for work , sports , towels , bedclothes etc etc it was never ending .Glad that is over.

You must have been a SAHM to have managed that. 5 loads of washing for a family of 4 when both parents are working would be completely unrealistic.

I haven't washed my weekend jeans this year 😆. I wash things when they need washing, I don't count days.

Chaoslatte · 11/05/2022 15:39

Fresh pants morning and night is truly bonkers. This explains how people have £800 a month electricity bills!

Svara · 11/05/2022 15:42

DS 16 wears his school trousers all week and sometimes they do get mud splatter when it's wet but he can't be bothered checking and just puts them in the wash on Friday. His choice.

Agreed, our dd is £105. I couldn't afford to live like some people do.

Allthe4s · 11/05/2022 16:01

I think we’re a clean and tidy family who do sports, yet generate no where near this level of washing.

There is no way I’d be doing 4 loads a day unless my actual paid job involved running a laundrette. The collecting, sorting, loading, unloading, drying, folding, putting away X 4 EVERY DAY.

Just no. A B S O L U T E L Y no way.

CaliforniaDrumming · 11/05/2022 16:20

Oh god I am filthy. I WFH so often wear jeans for 3 to 4 days. They don't get dirty. I shower daily but change knickers only once in 24 hrs.

I'd LTGH if he insisted on sleeping in gelled hair all over my pillow. Bleurgh. That's worse than not changing your knickers hourly.

Re knickers, thing is some women have a lot more discharge or leakage or sweat than others so whilst some people might reasonably need to change knickers throughout the day, don't assume everyone else is as.... productive.... as you

Depends how long your loads are.

First in at 6, chucked in tumble dryer. Second put in and timer set for 5.
Washing into tumble dryer and third load put in when you get in from work.
Washing into tumble dryer and fourth load put in after tea. Put into tumble dryer before bed to dry overnight.

It does require a lot of tumble usage tho.
