Neighbour constantly blocking my driveway

Throwthevodks · 09/05/2022 14:34

He continues to park his work van over the front of my drive way over a dropped curb.

Ive asked him politely just 2 days ago to please stop doing this and he said he would and now he’s gone and done it again.

I feel like crying.

Can you park across your own driveway for a month til they get the message

Blinky21 · 09/05/2022 21:15

Park across your own driveway

Badger1970 · 09/05/2022 21:22

I'd just get in your car and leave your hand on the horn until someone appears.

They'll soon learn not to block you in.

Addicted2LuvIsland · 09/05/2022 21:23

Just call the council and have it towed.

Cherms · 09/05/2022 21:25

Your neighbours are arseholes!

HappyDays40 · 09/05/2022 21:25

The diagram request is so done everyone knows what a dropped kerb looks like. Legally they can block you out ( although it's bloody annoying) but they can't block you in.

SunnyShiner · 09/05/2022 21:26

Go and tell them to move it. CFers

StoneofDestiny · 09/05/2022 21:41

Tell them to move it as you are going out. Then stay in.

Sciurus83 · 09/05/2022 21:46

Throwthevodks · 09/05/2022 17:09

Oh my god it gets worse - now the other next door have blocked me in!!

I’m uploading a photo because this is unbelievable.

MONSTERS!!!! Who does this?!!

MaggieFS · 09/05/2022 21:51

Well that is thoroughly shit. But at least now you have a bona ride reason not to use your own drive - for a little bit - and to park across the end of it thus preventing both of the CF.

TooGiddy · 09/05/2022 21:55

My god that is so annoying! What is WRONG with people!!!!!!!! How can someone block you in like that?! Could you call the council to have it towed? I'm not really sure what you'd need to do. Let their tyres down? Do that enough times, they'll soon stop parking there.

BaaMoon · 09/05/2022 22:02

I'd really want to try and squeeze out past the car and shunt it out the way.

BeaLola · 09/05/2022 22:13

Sone people are completely unreasonable numpties

Go out and knock on their doors and tell them to move it now . And start taking photos as proof of every incident .

I would also start parking across your dropped kerb to stop them. And if they persist contact your council every single time plus the company of its a company van.

Slightly different bit we got fed up of a new development telling all their workforce to park in our road which was opposite development so the development looked lovely for all potential visitors - it wouldn't be so bad but all 20 houses in our road park on drives to leave road clear for deliveries etc . Then builders etc from development all parked in our road constantly blocking quite a few of us in.

It took a few days of all us calling head office plus I emailed MD about 60 photos of said card and told him if it wasn't sorted we would all be parking outside the show home ...,.,

Candleabra · 09/05/2022 22:19

Hmm that’s a coincidence…not. Do your neighbours get on well? Are they trying to wear you down between them?
No more asking, just tell. Move your car/van. Repeat.
Sympathies. Such dickish behaviour.

curlymom · 09/05/2022 22:53

I’m so annoyed reading this. What a selfish neighbour.
i would leave my car hanging off he crossover and see what he does about that!

Silverstreaks · 09/05/2022 22:59

Horn!

JacquelineCarlyle · 09/05/2022 23:13

Goldpaw · 09/05/2022 17:54

Set your alarm for 3am. Go round then and keep ringing the doorbell or knocking until he comes to the door. Tell him you need to get out.

I hate men like this.

I would do this too - I'd suffer the lack of sleep to do this as it's likely that only something like this would work.

OnTheBoardwalk · 09/05/2022 23:24

@Throwthevodks ah I’m sorry to hear this, I feel your pain

i've gone to bed worrying some idiot would block my car in overnight. Shame your other neighbour is taking the piss. I came up with a plan where mine would block them in if blocking our drives

it really does have have to be a case of calling up them out everytime. Horn during the day works as well if everyone comes out to stare at them

i really don’t understand people who park like this

custardbear · 10/05/2022 00:07

Ffs I'd be knocking on both doors together and when they're both out I'd say ok fuckers what part of selfish shitty neighbour doesn't make sense to you ... move your vehicles so we can also enjoy some fucking parking too ... or we'll park every fucking broken down scrap heap cars we can find til you learn to be courteous fucking neighbours
Then slam the door and open the gin ... or maybe that's just me 🙃

Stigsmother · 10/05/2022 00:24

Knock on your neighbours door(s) and ask them to move in your best polite voice
Then move your car just far enough to park over your driveway.
Smile sweetly and wave as you close the front door.
Then open a bottle of your choice.

Throwthevodks · 10/05/2022 01:03

Sorry for the late reply. I don’t think the neighbours are in it together - ultimately I just live in the middle of very selfish people.

I was going to wait until 6pm and if they hadn’t moved the car I was going to say something. But they moved it before then.

Honestly it’s not the first time either side have done this. Just the car side haven’t done it for awhile. Once their cleaner parked her van behind my car and got angry when I asked her to move it and she demanded that I wait for her to finish.

Maybe I’m reaching but I’m a woman who lives alone and it’s men that keep doing this, so it’s almost like they do it because I’m not a threat. I’m genuinely considering moving because life’s too short to put up with this shit constantly.

I'm so sorry OP. I live alone and I know exactly what you mean. Flowers

Marvellousmadness · 10/05/2022 05:56

Put a few concrete blocks there

Take photos of everytime it happens

Call the council on him

Stay strong whenever you talk to him (never show your weakness)

AdobeWanKenobi · 10/05/2022 07:44

SlatsandFlaps · 09/05/2022 18:55

Vaseline on the windscreen wipers

Seems sensible.
Half way down the nearest motorway doing 70 and they decide to wash their screen and suddenly can’t see a thing. What could possibly go wrong?

As annoying as this is I don’t think it warrants possibly causing a fatal accident, do you?

LookItsMeAgain · 10/05/2022 08:25

Can you get a sign and fix it somewhere either side of your dropped kerb that says "No Parking - 24 hour access required".
I think there are signs that say 24 hour access required but even at a push something like this No Parking Sign might help, or maybe this one No Parking Outside Premises
