Neighbour constantly blocking my driveway

Throwthevodks · 09/05/2022 14:34

He continues to park his work van over the front of my drive way over a dropped curb.

Ive asked him politely just 2 days ago to please stop doing this and he said he would and now he’s gone and done it again.

I feel like crying.

I wouldn’t park in ‘his’ space, he could park behind you blocking you in or actually on your drive. I would park over your dropped kerb in such a way that there isn’t room to park his van.

Throwthevodks · 09/05/2022 17:09

Oh my god it gets worse - now the other next door have blocked me in!!

I’m uploading a photo because this is unbelievable.

You tell him each and every time to move the van. If he refuses you can report him.

PattyMelt · 09/05/2022 17:12

Go and lean on their doorbell till they answer.

splishsplashsploshsplish · 09/05/2022 17:19

Have your neighbours always been a bunch of ignorant knobs?

Dixiechickonhols · 09/05/2022 17:25

How rude of both of them. Park on road where he usually puts van is probably best bet (2nd neighbour has given you a good reason to as you don’t want to use your drive and risk being blocked in by neighbour)
In our old house next doors mother used to park across our drive. No idea why there were lots of places to park. One day DH got an urgent call to go to his mum who was having an emergency jumped in car and reversed into her car. His fault of course but she and next door were very sheepish and never did it again.

DietCoke99 · 09/05/2022 17:25

You can call our local council up if someone parks even an inch over your driveway and they will ticket the vehicle within about 30 mins- easy money for them. They ask for your name buy do not give it out obviously.
So try your council

DietCoke99 · 09/05/2022 17:27
  • I mean the council do not give your name out
Mix56 · 09/05/2022 17:40

You are going to have to park there yourself.
Tell the man with a van, the obvious solution is to knock his wall down & park on his own f*ing drive.
As for the other one, Say you are already fighting a battle with one stupid selfish dick, & now they start. Do not block your drive
How thick do people need to be ?

theremustonlybeone · 09/05/2022 17:43

that is pretty shocking now i have seen your photo. I would take photos everytime and log it and then if he continues contact the council

Irishfarmer · 09/05/2022 17:43

That is so rude to block in a parked car!!! Keep on at him. Like what does he expect you to do if you need your car and he doesn't answer the door? It doesn't matter if you need to go to Tesco or rush to a family emergency at 2am. You need your car when you need it!

Crazylazydayz · 09/05/2022 17:45

Ask the council for an “H” to be painted across your dropped curve. The lines act as a deterrent for most people.

MrOllivander · 09/05/2022 17:45

From experience you have to be quite.. blunt
No "sorry but could you/sorry I know I asked before"
Just state they need to move, and stand there. Let there be an awkward silence, they're the ones that should be feeling embarrassed or awkward
You need to project ice cold do it now vibes, pretend you're the parent and they're being a badly behaved child that you give "the look" to

Goldpaw · 09/05/2022 17:54

Set your alarm for 3am. Go round then and keep ringing the doorbell or knocking until he comes to the door. Tell him you need to get out.

I hate men like this.

myuterusistryingtokillme · 09/05/2022 18:21

We had something similar, where our neighbours son kept parking over our driveway. I happened to go outside one day as he was getting out of the car, and I challenged him about it.

His response is 'I won't be long', I asked how long (if he was just running in to grab something I'd let him off) and his response was 'an hour'. I actually laughed at the cheek and told him to move it and stop parking over our drive.

When I asked why he doesn't park over his own drive, apparently it's because his dad gets annoyed if he can't get his car out when he wants. The boy seemed quite surprised when I pointed out that it is even more annoying when it's someone that doesn't live in your house!

Blarting · 09/05/2022 18:23

Is his work van a company he works for? I'd be ringing them, maybe if they keep getting the calls they'll tell him to stop?

SlatsandFlaps · 09/05/2022 18:55

Vaseline on the windscreen wipers

ha! I paid for the application for this over half a year ago, still haven’t heard and it’s impossible to actually speak to someone to chase.

YANBU OP this drives me mad

Wonderfully evil!

InFiveMins · 09/05/2022 19:37

Stuff like this really pisses me off. I've never parked across someone's driveway, it's so rude. Hope you've told your other CF neighbour to move their car too!

FFS! Are they in it together?**

Grumpybutfunny · 09/05/2022 19:47

I would avoid parking on the drive for now

caecilius1 · 09/05/2022 20:17

Are they in it together OP? That's awful.

Samiamnot · 09/05/2022 20:27

Maybe start parking with the end of your car sticking out of your drive on the road. Just enough that no one could park there. Incredibly frustrating for you.
