to be angry/upset that because I do not have a degree I can't even apply for a part time, internet based job?

The other day someone mentioned that they had worked for

aqa

so, given that I have endless amounts of free time, consider myself to be vaguely inteligent and spend most of my time on the computer anyway, I thought I would apply. Nothing lost and all that.

so today I received the application form/test which has to be completed, along with a job description. and one of the points in the job description is that "applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent". fgs it's a job where you do the research to find answers to questions, you get a test so surely if you weren't up to the grade you would fail the test. why oh why does it matter whether or not you have a degree?

I don't have a degree btw, so no point even completing the application form is there?

wannabe - it's a really lazy approach from employers. It may be worth contacting them, though, and asking what they mean by "equivalent". Sometimes experience, other types of education etc can add up to quite a lot, and get through the blinkers of some employers. My sister doesn't have a degree, and has done this with some success.

I'm with CD, lie. The chances of them checking are minute.

I work for AQA and I don't have a degree - don't let it put you off applying.

What kind of jobs have you done in the past? Do you speak any languages or have any other skills that would put you ahead?

If you speak a foreign language it could open up a lot of doors for you. Or is it/would it be possible to start something of your own. If you are good at something and have a skill that others could benefit from, put that to good use. Sometimes you have to take the initiative yourself and not wait for things to come to you.

About the counseling, some jobs are very competitive and you have to really stand out to get anywhere. Don't hold back. The first time you do something, even if you might be nervous or unsure, give it everything you have.

I don't have a degree either, btw. I started my own business in order to do the work that I wanted.

Don't let me hear you say you shouldn't even bother filling up the application! I will send you some tasty fried grasshoppers if I hear that again! Go for it, if you don't try, you'll never know will you?
