To have not used an air fryer yet?

Thinking to buy one but not sure. Does food taste 'normal' in an air fryer? Anyone already got one? Would you recommend?

Best thing ever. I cook everything in it. I think I've used my oven twice in the year I've had my airfryer

I shove the basket bits in the dishwasher

Scurryfunge12 · 05/05/2022 01:03

Ninja foodi multi cookers are literally the best invention of the 21st century 😂

THNG5 · 05/05/2022 01:05

Can you cook enough in them for a big family though?

sjpkgp1 · 05/05/2022 01:06

Definitely recommend. 4 kids, all wanting food at different times. Bought a cheap one for £25-30 off Amazon and it is brill. As other posters have said, you can have stuff out and on the plate quicker than it takes your oven to heat up. It is particularly good for things you want to "crisp up" to give that 'fresh out of oven baked' feel, croissants, pain au choc - a 2 minute job. The cleaning is no worse than an oven tray, if anything, less.

allgoneaway · 05/05/2022 06:50

Barely used the oven since getting one at Christmas and our electric bill has gone right down! You can even soft/hard boil eggs in them! No water, just put the egg in the tray (in its shell) for 6 minutes for a perfect runny egg or 12 for hard.

Oblomov22 · 05/05/2022 07:04

loads of my friends have them. I need to investigate.

PeepsAndSheeps · 05/05/2022 07:05

We are family of 7....can cook for a large family using one? I don't want to be standing there putting in two lots of food because it won't all fit.

What about cleaning it? Every gadget I have ever bought has been almost impossible to clean (& I don't have very high standards!).

Hot water and washing up liquid - put it in cook for 3 mins. Empty it out and then wipe.

Veg can be cooked in an air fryer? Really!

'Roast' potatoes are amazing in an air fryer !

AlternativelyWired · 05/05/2022 07:14

I need one of these in my life. Putting the oven on for some chips seems criminal.

AlternativelyWired · 05/05/2022 07:16

Recommends please for those of use not well off to buy anything fancy.

GrunkleStan · 05/05/2022 07:17

Does anyone make homemade chips in theirs and how to they turn out??

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/05/2022 07:20

I got one on Sunday. Not used it yet. I’m so hoping it’s not going to be crap so I get the “told you so”face from dh.

I got the tower from Amazon and I saw it in Tesco at the weekend for £40. It’s not as big or fancy as the ninja but does us.

dumdumduuuummmmm · 05/05/2022 07:36

Can anyone explain the difference between the Ninja 2 compartment air fryer and the Ninja 14 in 1 multi cooker? It's an air fryer plus other things and costs much more

Love my acti fry

AlternativelyWired · 05/05/2022 07:58

I'd need one that can do more than one thing at once so veggie burgers and chips or roast potatoes and roast veg sort if things or the crime of pizza and chips. Family of 4.

PurpleParrotfish · 05/05/2022 07:58

This is an interesting thread! The name ‘air fryer’ to me makes it sound like a fad gadget for people who are on a diet. Whereas actually it could be marketed as ‘save on your bills with the eco smart mini oven’ or something.

Singlebutmarried · 05/05/2022 08:05

Ninja 9.5l 2 drawer here.

between that and the instantpot the oven hardly gets used these days.

best purchases ever.

Roselilly36 · 05/05/2022 08:08

The best thing we have ever bought, used up to 3 times a day here. DH wasn’t convinced when I said I was going to buy one, he thought it would be another kitchen gadget. But honestly it is brilliant, he is always using it now and saying how great it is. Definitely get one.

KangarooKenny · 05/05/2022 08:13

I gave in and got one finally. I put it off previously as I didn’t want another bulky thing taking up space in the kitchen. I also wondered how often we would actually use it.
I don’t use it to cook our tea, I put the oven on for that, but it’s been used for cooking dinner things and has saved electricity.
I pre-warm mine , and it cooks quickly. It’s less greasy as the fat falls into the bottom, easy to clean. I love it.

Roselilly36 · 05/05/2022 08:13

Things we have cooked in ours inc, whole chicken, gammon joints, chips, bacon, sausages, everything cooks quicker and tastes great, just how it would being cooked in the oven, but better. Frozen oven chips, are so much nicer tasting out of the air fryer, crispy outside but soft inside. And the cleaning is so easy, just wipes off, no scrubbing needed.

daisychicken · 05/05/2022 08:17

could pp's post what size air fryer they have and how many adults/children they cook for please?
It would be helpful for those of us trying to work. out what size we need, thank you 😊

cushioncovers · 05/05/2022 08:54

I have recently bought one from from Costco. I got a 6.7 litre one for £45 and it's fantastic. No need to spend a fortune. For context that will comfortably fit 6 chicken thighs in it. I wouldn't want a smaller size as I wouldn't be able to fit enough in it to make it worth using.
