He seems to be have been mayor for a very, very, very long time now. Has he got the job for life ? Does anybody know ?

A clearly disablist policy and disabled people should protest. Presumably there'd be more of them able to protest as fewer will have died from respiratory complications. Perhaps there could be additional designated number of children too to take account of the additional children not killed. This national government, who clearly put the interests of disabled people to the forefront of their decisions, should intervene provided it doesn't cost too much. The Mayor might get away with it too , shameless opportunist that he is, as I think disabled people are relatively more likely to be benefit claimants and facing relatively greater cost of living pressures so might struggle to fund the travel costs to get to a protest unless they take the PM's brilliant advice to shop smarter. Just think how much more money they'd have if they'd have thought of that themselves months ago?

I am disabled person. Don't go out hardly at all cos of disability but need cabs or someone driving me to get to hospital and other important things.

nosafeguardingadults · 06/05/2022 21:07

France did traffic control thing in Paris but did exemption for disabled and other people who need car. Cousin is electrician. He can't take his stuff on bus. His friend is painter decorator. Not rich. Can't afford new car. He can't take his work stuff on bus. Maybe if was exemptions for people on less income and disabled maybe be ok.

Disabled Londoners shouldn't be forced out of London. Disabled need driving, cars or cabs.

Yes, that's why there's a tapering exemption for vehicles registered for disability use.

Black cabs have bee switching for a while now, and most minicab vehicles are newish petrol ones which are ULEZ compliant. Only very old petrol cars and medium old diesel vehicles are getting caught. And the policy is raising much less money than expected in ULEZ fees, because so many vehicles are compliant

Momicrone · 06/05/2022 22:21

The more able bodied people give up cars the easier it will be for disabled people

Zilla1 · 07/05/2022 11:15

Actually, PPs have convinced me. The national government should campaign more on their clear points of difference with those Labour scallywags.

Support for car drivers in London.
That research and the court cases about child deaths was probably some climate change nonsense.
The government's policies for disabled people.

Prioritising hard working families/just about managing/whatever three work acronym the focus groups say might resonate.
Advice for people to shop smarter unlike impractical Labour proposals for tax cuts, increasing benefits or windfall taxes which will clearly deter investment, no matter what some labour voting so called spokesman or chief executive or something might say.
Sensible tax cuts in a couple of years coincidentally just before the election when the world will be much more predictable than now.
Support for disadvantaged minorities like people worth £100s of millions and in possession of green cards with billionaire in laws. As George Eustace said, it's getting like a rich person can't be Chancellor any more and Labour hate people with ambition, well the right sort of people. Philip Hammond and George Osborne were only worth £10s of millions? so don't count. Everyone deserves our empathy, not just obvious groups where the empathy is clearly performative.
Prioritising the safety of refugees by deterring traffickers by agreeing deals with Rwanda. When have Labour ever proposed anything practical? Airy fairy ideas about putting asylum seeker, refugee and visa offices in France are clearly just remainers trying to rejoin the EU by the backdoor. Rwanda is in Africa I think so it just goes to show the anti-racist credentials of the government and anyone criticising Rwanda is obviously racist.

This will clearly show how the PM is a man of the people unlike that privileged technocratic wannabe Keir. OP, perhaps you could suggest some of the above at work to see if they could gain support?

Tally Ho!

Funniest post I’ve read in ages 😂

Disabled drivers in receipt of mobility allowance are exempt, so whilst changes are needed, it’s not all disabled people that are affected.
You can, if a friend is driving you and you have a blue badge claim exemption for the day.

Zilla1 · 08/05/2022 10:22

I can't believe another week has started and the Mayor is still the Mayor. Clearly the OP is on to something. ]What will it take for Mayor for life to go, a beer and a takeaway and a campaigning newspaper with principles, the Daily Mail...

I didn't think my post was that offensive. I'll try again. I was dismayed that the very first thing that the mayor could think of to do in office was to ban posters showing women in bikinis and underwear. There do seem to be more pressing concerns.

Momicrone · 08/05/2022 15:35

Would it have been OK if it had been the second thing he did? Good on him

I have a feeling we are not allowed to discuss this topic on here, so I won't risk answering.

It does however seem an odd thing to focus on with such urgency.

She, like Saqid Khan, will see such shit all the time and worse.

Can do what was done in Bristol. Was referendum people voted get rid of mayor. Think they think same reason I think should be no mayor. Nothing to do with Sadiq Khan is nothing personal. Any mayor big waste of money extra money on council tax.

Lots of us don't have people who drive. We need cabs. Some of disabled not eligible for exempt if it's on mobility cos I was told not standard rate mobility only higher rate. Maybe should be on higher rate but not going through pip assessment again until have to cos very bad stressful thing.

Know someone elderly who eligible for blue badge but they too stressed by application and all documents needed. Hard for old people to do all that so some eligible don't get blue badge.
