Strange post

Thank you, most kind of you to say so.

unfortunately I think he will be in a long time.
Absolutely vile person who pisses money up the wall constantly for his own self promotion.
His PR budget quadrupled what Johnson spent. He may have done a few good things for central London (not sure what they are) but he is a disaster for Greater London. The only thing he seems to do is want to introduce more fines and charges for motorists which are merely a tax on ordinary people.I think they should split the job into an inner London mayor and a Greater London one, then khan can continue wasting money and people in Greater London won’t have to pay for him.

Do you know him well?

The few times I've met him, he's seemed really pleasant. I can't imagine him doing anything "vile".

Snowraingain · 04/05/2022 20:51

Yes let’s get more cars. Just what London needs. Have a little Google of the name Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah

johnson spent £40 million on a garden bridge - where oh where is that money because there is no bridge?!
he gave over £250,000 to his mistress
he never turned up for meetings and if he did he hadn’t been bothered to read his brief. He made up gibberish in speeches and let’s not forget decided to support brexit which has truly f*ed london.
shawn Bailey would have been in the pockets of billionaires and they don’t give a f about anyone but themselves.

Johnson also spunked £300m+ on water cannon that aren't even legal in this country, the thick twat.

Ah now twats are indeed something that Johnson is apparently expert in, he has filled his government with them.

Snowraingain · 05/05/2022 15:48

I forgot about the water cannons.
Also the stupid cable car.
Oh and the money spent on the plan for an airport in the Thames Estuary.

oh and recently the £400,000 spent investigating if you could build a bridge to Ireland. That was recent though not when he was london mayor.

nosafeguardingadults · 05/05/2022 16:13

Think should be no mayor. Extra £300 on council tax for mayor and London assembly waste of money. Services support for vulnerable very very bad in London and money for mayor and assembly could go for better services instead cos very very bad at moment. Social services and all support services very bad. Don't care who mayor is it's waste of money extra council tax.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 05/05/2022 18:20

LakieLady

I don’t know him no.
no more than the hundreds of people on mumsnet who don’t know Boris Johnson or any other Tory politician. Do you go around telling them they mustn’t make any personal comments about them either?
bet you don’t.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 05/05/2022 18:23

nosafeguardingadults
I’m fine with no mayor.

jgw1 · 06/05/2022 07:49

It would appear from the local election results that Labour is very popular in London, must be because Sadiq Khan is doing such a bad job as mayor.

AuntieMorag · 06/05/2022 08:12

So what did you do during the Mayoral election period to "stop Khan being Mayor"?

The ULEZ is annoying. It's currently costing me around £25 a week as I live just outside it so keep trips into it to the bare minimum (currently hospital / GP visits). But I still support it. I could get public transport to the appointments, but it takes 3 times the time of driving and I am very time poor right now. We're hoping to be in a position to get a new car later this year though.

Khan may not be perfect (I have also met him on a number of occasions, and a friend knows him well. I have never heard of him being anything other than a very nice, fair man). But he isn't spaffing Londoners money away on idiotic plans and ideas, or giving it away to his mates and lovers.

That he is not giving away money to his lovers just goes to show that he does not know what a woman is.

That's a parody response, right? Right? It's genuinely getting hard to tell on this site.

MarshaBradyo · 06/05/2022 09:30

I don’t mind the ULEZ

I had a huge issue with his response re schools last year but overall I don’t care that much if he stays or goes

I remember not liking the Cons alternative at all

MRex · 06/05/2022 09:35

Yesterday's election didn't include the mayor, it was local councils. What a strange post.

Mercurial123 · 06/05/2022 09:38

Google would have given you the answer in seconds and would have saved you posting such an uninformed post. YABVU.

We have a parody Prime Minister...

Snowraingain · 06/05/2022 11:03

Excited to see what happens now Labour have control of Westminster. Hopefully they can implement some of the plans to pedestrianise Soho and Oxford Street.

Zilla1 · 06/05/2022 11:35

Am disappointed at all the mean PPs trying to post facts about boring things like terms and calendars and things, instead of acknowledging and empathising with the OP's heart-felt feelings which are more important than facts. The OP has gone to a lot of hard work thinking about their long term strategy for local government political management and reminding everyone around the time of the local elections how terribly loooonng the current Mayor has been in charge and that it's time for a change while presumably wanting to avoid any wholly wrong implication that it might be time for a change at national level presumably because the national government are busy managing things over which they can't control without bankrupting everyone, well slightly reducing the accretion of wealth by everyone who matters. People can help themselves by shopping for bargains to help them still afford their third holiday. And everyone should think warm thoughts anticipate the generous tax cut that is coincidentally before the next election because everyone sensible will realise things are more predictable in a couple of years time than now. No, it's not fair to say the government will have to temporarily pivot from keeping their real stakeholders happy to trying to please the wider electorate enough in a couple of years time. So, spot on OP, keep up the good work and deploying your in depth political analysis to post about other topics.

Just think about all the pro-Brexit fish, OP. Don't worry about moaning minnies complaining about not being able to sell the fish they catch as most went to the EU. British fish for British people, that's the thing.

Zilla1 · 06/05/2022 11:37

I had wondered if it were possible to weaponise Acuri?-ness without implying wrong doing by the PM. Glad to see efforts are being made -

Zilla1 · 06/05/2022 11:40

Water cannons.
Garden bridges.
Cable cars.
Bridges, again, to Ireland.
Fish.

vision and ambition, rather than small-minded bureaucratic technocracy. Enough of the UK appear to want to be proud of their Mayor and PM's glorious patriotic pushing of the envelope.

narcdad · 06/05/2022 11:46

Ulez is the biggest rip off ever, I despise Khan, sooner he is out the better.

milveycrohn · 06/05/2022 11:50

So do you know who the conservative candidate for Mayor was at the last Mayoral Election, in 2021?
The point being that Shaun Bailey received absolutely no support from the conservatives. Yes, I admit that he has now been found to be at a party of some sort during lockdown, but this was not known at the last Mayoral elections in 2021.
Frankly, if the conservatives want to win the London Mayor again, then they need to put up a very good candidate with a much higher profile. And give the candidate some kind of support.
Also the demographics of inner London are different to outer London, so it seems that those who live in Inner London are more likely to vote Labour.
I suspect this is partly down to the fact that the closer to London you get, the more expensive property becomes, and the trend is for either social housing, or fewer, very rich people who can afford to live there.

It’s going to save lives. I had to sell my car but it’s the right thing for london.
Times are changing. Suck it up buttercup.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 06/05/2022 14:51

Snowraingain
some people can’t just sell their car and suck it up, they have young children or have to carry equipment but selfish virtue signallers like you don’t give a shit about how these things affect normal, working people.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 06/05/2022 14:52

And the idea that Khan doesn’t waste money on ridiculous things. Seriously most of you know absolutely fuck all don’t you?
It’s really quite embarrassing how I’ll informed you are.
