Aquamarine1029 · 02/05/2022 16:57

It was bound to happen eventually.

LightningAndRainbows · 02/05/2022 16:58

Mine seems to have gained a nap. Which means no sleep at night.

Porridgewithhoneyandnuts · 02/05/2022 16:59

shivawn · 02/05/2022 17:01

Not looking forward to this! How old is he?

Porridgewithhoneyandnuts · 02/05/2022 17:02

Only 16 months - really did not anticipate it for many months!

Yes, it’s a sad day when they drop that last nap!

Merryoldgoat · 02/05/2022 17:05

I miss the nap still.

CoralDaffodil · 02/05/2022 17:05

YANBU.. mine napped until just before 3… I still cried…

FiveNineFive · 02/05/2022 17:09

Mine dropped hers at 13 months.

Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 02/05/2022 17:13

Mine all napped until about 3, and would sometimes still have a cheeky afternoon nap up until they started in reception.
16 months is very young to stop napping, i would be very sad too. Nap time always gave me the time to get some of the cleaning/chores done!

MamboMambo · 02/05/2022 17:25

Could just be a phase? Mine went through a couple of weeks of sporadically not wanting to nap, and taking ages to get to bed but as quickly as it started, it stopped and we were back to napping and normal bed time again! Don't give up hope just yet.

AntarcticTern · 02/05/2022 17:26

I agree with pp it may return.

Porridgewithhoneyandnuts · 02/05/2022 17:29

God I hope so!

You might find they restart it; mine refused it then started again at one stage

Pickingmyselfup · 02/05/2022 17:30

It's a sad time. My youngest is 5 this year so it's been a while since we had afternoon naps but I long for the days when his brother was at nursery and we could have our afternoon nap.

Now it's all about avoiding the danger naps which still occur especially in the car. Looking forward to them growing out of that.

Mangogogogo · 02/05/2022 17:32

Mine all dropped theirs by about 14 months 😭 but they’ve never been overly skilled in the art of sleeping.
with the last one we replaced nap time with screen time, which meant she could sit and watch a movie while I did my usual nap time stuff like cleaning still

TimBoothseyes · 02/05/2022 17:53

I cried teras of joy when mine dropped her nap, I thought at long last she might sleep for more than 4 hours at night.....how wrong I was. 😭

TimBoothseyes · 02/05/2022 17:54

teras=tears...fat fingers.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 02/05/2022 17:56

16 months is very young, mine both went through phases where they tried to drop it. I would keep trying for a nap for both your benefit.

Squiff70 · 02/05/2022 18:02

My 2.5 year old still has a nap after lunch. I use that time wisely and get my head down too. I'm pregnant currently so neeeeeeed the rest but prior to pregnancy I used to use her nap time to clean and sort laundry. The house is a tip but there's nothing nicer than a cheeky afternoon nap. I'll be gutted when my daughter drops her kip - probably coinciding with her baby brother arriving because sod's law innit! 😫

PierresPotato · 02/05/2022 18:03

Yanbu.
It's a sad time. Commiserations.

LilacPoppy · 02/05/2022 18:04

16 months! All my dc napped until 4.5 y they do get up at 6am though.

stuntbubbles · 02/05/2022 18:07

At 16 months I would ONE THOUSAND PER CENT treat it as a temporary nap refusal, not a dropped nap. Keep trying daily and maintain the “quiet time in room” element of the routine; in a couple of weeks he’ll stop being ornery and return to it. But if you go with the dropped nap flow you might kill the nap!
