Will I ever lie in again?!?!

My 1 year old is a fan of a 6am wake up. Every single day. Which is fine when we have to be out at work/childcare. But it's the weekend, and I just want to go back to sleep.

The dream is over forever, isn't it? When will I ever lie in again? 😩

3 years in and I wake up just before 7 whether DS does or not!

A lie in for me is 7am, and my ‘baby’ is 17. I wake, or rather my bladder does, at 5.30am EVERY day and can rarely get back to sleep properly (and am also gasping for a brew). It’s official, I’ve turned into my Mother. That said, I love the ‘alone time’ before everyone else gets up. Plus with two felines who can hear my eyes opening, you never get a lie in.

My DD when under 1 went through a phase of being up at 6. Then the clocks went back and it was 7. She’s 2.5 now and woke up at 8.30 today ( she went to bed later though) but her usual wake time 7-7.30. Not ideal but not awful. I used to love to sleep in too but I’ve sort of adjusted. The days when I’m home and my DH isn’t working I get a long lie as he gets up. Personally, I’m ok with DD going to sleep 08.30/9pm provided she sleeps through and wake up later…. (She doesn’t nap now either)

I had to wake my 2 year old grandchild up at 830 this morning! She woke up at 6 and I gave her a bottle of milk and then she went back to sleep.
Whenever she hasn’t settled back to sleep she has always come into my bed and I have never got up before 745 with her .

Mine are both adults now and I rarely sleep past 8am anymore but I can have a lovely nap during the day.

But she woke up at 6! Or do you mean 6pm yesterday?

Never.

I don't really have anything to complain about as mine are fantastic sleepers, even as babies, would sleep till 7.30/8am on a regular basis.

But that's it. I'll never sleep till 9/10am like the old days pre-children 😩

My youngest started lying in at 10-11 years old just when the older ones had weekend jobs to be dropped off at in the mornings 😩

My approach was to never ever let the dds watch tv apart from when I was in bed - so they could get up and put the tv on and it would stay on until I got up (so it was in their interests not to wake me up - worked for years 😀 - they learnt very fast how to turn it on and work the dvd player!)

Do you have a DP/ DH?

My 7yo is still up between 6 and 7 every day, but DH and I get a lie in each at the weekend. We always have the same day, so that we know that on our day we can ignore everything and carry on sleeping.

We do this too! I’m on duty Saturday, but I “sleep” until 9:30 on Sunday… even if actually the DCs are a bit noisy and I’m really just reading in bed. It’s as good a set up as we can manage for now, though!

My DS is nearly 9, I don't get up with him any more, he plays on the switch in bed until I wake up.
