Do you like your job?

I get so bored at work. I don't have a typically boring job, I have the kind that should be interesting but it's not. Does anyone actually like their job? None of it means anything to me. My job is one that people say should be rewarding.

Had any love for it knocked out of me by ever increasing expectations and ever decreasing resources, and the blame for not reaching those expectations.
Will be out soon and it's not a day too soon.

Yes, I love my job. It's intellectually stimulating, varied and I've got to a good pay/grade in it where I've lots of autonomy. Most of my colleagues are nice too. However, I did career change so I am always grateful not to be working in schools any more!

Yes and no, really. I'm good at what I do, and jobs doing what I do are quite difficult to get these days, so I'm lucky. The organisation I work for is a nice place to work, certainly in my department, anyway, and I really like the people in our team. The job is ideal for me and my skills, our line managers are lovely, and the flexibility options are great.

However, the subject matter I deal with isn't always particularly interesting, and our department's role is undervalued and misunderstood by some of the other people we have to work with which is annoying and frustrating. We definitely don't get to use our skills to the best of our ability, because of external factors, and I get very bored by things like quarterly planning meetings and objective-setting.

Ultimately, I would definitely not work at all if I didn't have to - but that's always been the case for me. I'm not someone who gets bored without a job to do. I have a million things I could do with my days if I wasn't working, and I'm not massively sociable. So I like my work, but not as much as I would like having no work.
