I get so bored at work. I don't have a typically boring job, I have the kind that should be interesting but it's not. Does anyone actually like their job? None of it means anything to me. My job is one that people say should be rewarding.

Yep. I realised earluer if I won the lottery tomorrow I'd still keep my job because I wouod genuinely miss it. Pay is terrible and it's stressful but I adore it. Primary school TA.

Changeymcgee · 28/04/2022 21:35

I love what I do but hate whom I do it with!!

My actual job is fantastic. Its interesting, always different and uses my brain... The people I work with on the other hand Make me very very angry and stressed!

(very niche market, mainly family - not mine - but very interesting)

I can't get the same job elsewhere as we are virtually the only one. I could get an equivalent-ish job but it wouldn't be half as interesting or anything to do with what I find interesting about what I do!

FallopianTubeTrain · 28/04/2022 21:37

Nope, it's tedious and stressful at the same time. I worry I've wasted my life getting so good at doing something that makes miserable that I can't now do anything else.

Gingernaut · 28/04/2022 21:38

No.

FlyingPandas · 28/04/2022 21:39

Love mine. Admin in school office. Lovely school, great colleagues, I feel like I’m making a contribution to the school community but without the stress of actual teaching. Hours are great. I’m term time only and my job fits perfectly with family life.

Downside: it’s not as intellectually challenging as what I originally did pre DC (then again I nearly had a breakdown trying to juggle original job and DC).

And the pay is rubbish.

But overall yes I enjoy what I do and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to do it!

FriedTomatoe · 28/04/2022 21:45

I love my job too in spite of the fact that some of my colleagues are bone idle and I get stuck with all the bullshit as a result. I'm considering a new job doing the same thing due to poor management but we'll see how things work out.

Ops1 · 28/04/2022 21:45

Sometimes yes sometimes no
I love that I am flexible no one clock watches what I do
I go and run errands during the day and take my child to school every day (always have my work phone on my so can answer emails or be present in meetings while out and about with my ear pods in)
I work for a good company with good people, I have a great network of peers and colleagues

but it’s never ending the same problem over and over for years…. Given free reign to manage a team but as long as it’s within my managers parameters- which means don’t actually change from their vision even if it’s falling apart

if I’m honest I would really love my job under a different manager

riotlady · 28/04/2022 21:46

Yes, I don’t love it but I like it. Interesting work, nice people, good working conditions.

I’ve been a retail worker, teaching assistant, data entry admin, occupational therapy student and now a civil servant. I’ve honestly liked all my jobs except for working in a theme park! My ex-boyfriend’s mum once said I’m a very “process driven person”, which makes me sound very boring but I do enjoy putting a nice efficient system in place!

Starseeking · 28/04/2022 21:47

I do, sort of.

The work itself I love; it's interesting, varied and keeps my mind whirring as there's always a new issue to think about. It also pays very well.

Current workplace went downhill when my new boss, an anxious micromanager started, so I'm looking for a new job in earnest.

You sound so similar to me!

Kendodd · 28/04/2022 21:58

Yes, love my job.
Another one whod still go to work if I won the lottery.

WalesStar · 28/04/2022 22:14

Nope. I hate mine. It’s so boring and dull. I wouldn’t mind if I could wfh but I’m forced to go into the office and work alone ☹️ . I only do three days a week and hell would have to freeze over before I went full time. I’m going to start to seriously look for something else in September

Skinterior · 28/04/2022 22:14

I love my job. It's very up and down and I complain about it as much as the next person, but I wouldn't switch.

Sleepyquest · 28/04/2022 22:16

Nope. But I worked hard to get here and I'm quite good at it

BlimBosh · 28/04/2022 22:24

Yes, love my job. Its my passion and I feel like I was made to do it. Doesn't even feel like a job a lot of the time.

ThinWomansBrain · 28/04/2022 22:28

yes, really enjoying current job - but have only been there a month :)
I get on really well with the SMT that I work with, being on the same wavelength makes a huge difference.

longcoffeebreak · 28/04/2022 22:58

I'm not sure i'd like any job now. Basically I don't want to work anymore Grin

splishsplashsploshsplish · 28/04/2022 22:58

I love my job. I teach elementary age children with a specific pedagogy

AzazaelsFury · 29/04/2022 03:20

Love mine. 100% work from home and better pay rate than I've ever had before without the costs of a commute etc.
Not the most "fun" job but I couldn't give up not having to leave the house.

AlasEarwacs · 29/04/2022 03:32

Not right now. I'm
Giving it some more time before I leave

Corty02 · 29/04/2022 03:38

I guess you bored at work because you do not see your growth. Maybe the company cannot give it to you, maybe your job consists of the same responsibilities. I think that you should discuss it with your head.

BritWifeInUSA · 29/04/2022 04:17

I love mine.

SierraSapphire · 29/04/2022 04:30

No. I used to like it, I have my own business, but since Covid it's turned into sitting in front of a screen by myself all day rather than going to clients' premises, and I feel stressed and lonely. I want to do something that's more with people, but I'd probably have to take a pay cut and end up without the flexibility to look after my DM (though that may be a good thing as I don't feel as though I can cope with that either!)

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/04/2022 04:41

I love mine.

I can never work out why everyone else 'burns out'. The whole bloody department was on sick this week. Not me.

Vikinga · 29/04/2022 05:02

I love my job and I I wouldn't do a job I didn't enjoy unless i had no other choice. I've had a couple of jobs where I had to clock watch and I absolutely hated it. That's why I've instilled in my kids the importance of doing work they love.
