Twitter is a vile cesspit that I left years ago! Once the Elon Musk takeover has been confirmed I will set up a new account. I think this is amazing news for free speech and democracy which hasn’t existed on Twitter for years.

I don’t look at or click on Twitter ads as at the moment it is possible to just scroll past! I don’t really see it as about funding this or that person but being about who do you want to have access to your data and analysis of how you socially interact with the world.

I dont know too much about twitter, I find it frustrating to try and use and find things or contact companies on it

I also dont know a huge amount about Elon Musk, I know that he is the inventor of Tesla cars and very rich etc etc. I put him in the same category of people like Howard Huges or that other bloke that died of cancer in the end, very rich but quite detached from the world (although I dont know if thats accurate)

But interestingly on the radio this afternoon they had a phone in about him buying twitter and people were complaining that he should have used that money for the greater good, but no one made any mention of the people that will receive the huge amount of money he is going to give them for buying it!

I just found that interesting about who the focus is on and this thread sort of replicates that, OP presumably didnt take a stand about the current owners but will do about the incoming owner

Oh Musk is definitely a sensitive soul. I was half-joking about it being the reason he bought the site but the fact that a guy that powerful and ostensibly busy wasted that much time on it in the first place is telling. Yeah, it got him a bit of a cult but even Bezos has his fanboys.

I agree that Twitter is a cesspit, but it's not just right-wing types who make it that way. The 'uber-woke' far left, (who try and cancel everyone who doesn't share their views, and who have weird, far-left views that nobody in real life has,) are just as bad!
