To burn down my house?

I have been getting insect bites for over a month now. I had a patch of about five then a break for 3 weeks and now over the last few days I have got about 15.
they are intensely itchy for about 3/4 days. Swell up huge. Mostly on my feet and legs. So last night I sprayed myself with bug spray on my legs and feet. Woke up this morning to six bites across my back where the fucker has clearly walked across snacking on me.
joking aside the itching and burning is driving me to feel really beside myself. I haven’t slept properly for about 4 nights now because of the itching.
we have checked for bed bugs - DEFINITELY no sign of these
can’t see any sign of fleas!
we live near farmland so insects are common. Weirdly I’m the only one bitten - or reacting enough to be irritated by it
weve just Amazon primed a smoke bomb. If this doesn’t work I have to burn the whole house down right?

'O'h how brilliant!

Do you have your bed near to a window? I had very similar looking bites years ago and it turned out to be bird mites coming in through the bedroom window from a nest in the eaves.
I woke up to a line of them running down the wall and hundreds of them in my bed 🤮

If I get this kind of bite, I apply a steroid cream, a strongish one which my son got on prescription years ago (I've kept it just for this). Try asking a pharmacist for it.
Made me feel miserable too, but steroid cream can ease them fairly quickly, reduce lump, redness and itching.

Looks sore @ChristmasAtHogwarts

@ChristmasAtHogwarts do you sleep with your feet kicked out of the covers? They look like mosquito bites to me. I get the big welts from them as well. Maybe try a lotion mixed with citronella essential oil at nighttime.

I have had this. It was mites of some kind. We got a person in to spray, which gave temporary relief. I then got a spray from pets at home as couldn't afford to pay again. Took bedding out and washed on 60, sprayed room in morning and leave for the day with door shut. You have to repeat every 2 to 3 days for a few cycles as more hatch. They can also lie dormant and reappear when the weather changes and you have to repeat. This did fix it. The bites are horrible, you have my sympathies.

You must be blood type O. I am O positive (they love us) the amazon bombs work very well, I have used them (the Critter Kill ones) they are good for bed bugs and mosquitoes, most crawlies in fact. I used them and was prepared to use them again a few weeks later to kill the newly hatched bastards. Luckily I didn't need to. Apparently blood type Os are unlikely to catch malaria (although I would rather have that than the unbearable itching). The bombs will work a treat. Use some masking tape around windows and doors, leave drawers open to give the fuckers a nice strong dose! All will be well!

I did not know this!!! I'm O+ and mozzies love me.

OP's bites look like how I react to mosquitos. Feel for you. I don't know what I would do if I was being bitten by something in the night I couldn't identify 😫

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 01/05/2022 15:39

I don’t I sleep tucked in butt those bites are on my neck so it could be. I will have to keep spraying my room, little fuckers
the hot teaspoon trick brought me immediate relief and I am so grateful

I get bitten like that every couple of years, and it is torture!! Especially as I seem prone to getting cluster bites that then gravitate into one huge swollen pus filled mess that gets infected....

I have found the Anthisan cream a PP mentioned works well, and another called Soov - but I'm not sure it's available in the uk.
They both provide instant relief, but is does take a couple of days to clear up.
The purple marks I found take a few weeks to go, but they should leave without scarring.

I bought a bog plant from my local garden centre that attracts and kills mosquitoes... we haven't been bitten in a while 😀

As someone who was in a house when it was burned down YABU. Not a neutral thing to joke about.

opensunflower · 01/05/2022 17:36

@MrsJamin
