mine is dark chocolate digestives with marmite. Technically not a meal but if you eat enough of them it can be!

I did rice sandwiches once.

as for my actual favourite strange meal, not so much strange but pizza, chips, sausages, eggs, beans onions and burgers. All manageable portions.

Sugar sandwiches. White sugar. White bread. Butter.

Healthy as fuck 🤣

My mums idea when we were kids but I love the crunch! Also salad cream sarnjes. And crisp sarnies!

Special K for dinner

MissMarplesNiece · 24/04/2022 18:39

Instant mashed potato with tinned lentil soup - my ultimate comfort food.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/04/2022 18:41

Sausage and marmalade sandwiches

AlmostAJillSandwich · 24/04/2022 18:41

Pasta with mustard!

coffeecoffeecoffee90 · 24/04/2022 18:50

Just cooking the rice for my tea tonight and it reminded me of an old favourite - rice with salad cream and cheddar cheese.

AffIt · 24/04/2022 18:52

When I was at primary school, I had a wee friend who was proper old-school aristocracy (i.e. lived in an actual castle, but were poor as church mice).

Her mum used to make us 'fancy lunch' of tinned mackerel on white toast (we were a brown bread house and I wasn't allowed white bread), with tinned pineapple slices on top. I love it to this day.

As a student, my go-to snack was frozen broccoli, heated up in a bowl in the microwave, with lashings of Bisto instant gravy.

AffIt · 24/04/2022 18:53

Also yes, to the PP who mentioned apple slices with salad cream.

Add some really cheap mouse-trap cheese to take it to the next level.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/04/2022 18:55

Pilchard fishcakes

DoneItAll · 24/04/2022 19:05

I have two go-to comfort meals that I would never admit to in public.

A packet of vegetable packet rice with any kind of breaded or battered chicken pieces and lashings of Salad Cream.

Or

Fish fingers or chicken nuggets with oven chips and beans. Loads of salt & vinegar, salad cream and 2 slices of buttered white bread.

mumda · 24/04/2022 19:14

Years ago there a battered piece of fish that had something like a topping inside (think garlic kiev style perhaps but I think it was tiny prawns) .. and that with tinned spaghetti was amazing.

Mind you I quite like spaghetti hoops on toast every so often (maybe ever year).

PleaseAcceptMyUsername · 24/04/2022 19:20

I can't get enough of chickpeas stirred into warm tinned tomatoes. With a little bit of salt.
Also, eggs cooked in the microwave, smothered in burger sauce, and eaten in a white pitta.

iklboo · 24/04/2022 19:27

Dairylea & sliced pickled onion cream crackers
Sardine & tomato spear & sliced pickled onion sandwiches
Stuffing on crackers (or in a sandwich) with loads of salt

ShinyPikachu · 24/04/2022 19:37

Cheese and salad cream sandwiches with thickly cut cheese and a ridiculous amount of salad cream so it drips everywhere.

I also love turning normal sandwiches into French toast. Jam sandwiches done that way with a bit of icing sugar on top. Or a tuna and cheese sandwich so it's like a French toast tuna melt. No icing sugar with that though, but a bit of salt and pepper on top once it's done.

LaQuern · 24/04/2022 19:39

Chicken super noodle sandwich, on thick white bread with lots of butter.

Also chips and mushy peas. Nothing else....

I'm quite cheap to buy for at the chippy

HangOnToYourself · 24/04/2022 19:41

Spaghetti with tinned tuna (cold) and grated cheese with sauerkraut on top

Chestnut29 · 24/04/2022 19:51

Rice pudding with melted cubes of chocolate in it

Gingersay · 24/04/2022 19:54

Half a tin of cold beans and half a jar of silverskin pickled onions mixed together! My dh and kids boak and leave the room so I tend to eat this hiding in the kitchen in the dark!

gamerchick · 24/04/2022 19:58

Onion fried in gravy granuals on Jacobs crackers with thick butter.

SpicySunshine · 24/04/2022 19:58

Ham and jam sandwich 😋

RewildingAmbridge · 24/04/2022 20:30

Turkey drummers, I cook from scratch every day, but on the rare occasion DS has eaten at nursery and DH is out late on a week night, I'll be stopping at the supermarket on the way home for a bag of Bernard Matthews' finest. Wanted to do that tonight (DS has an upset stomach so eating only very plain food, only wanted porridge as an early dinner) and DH is out, but both supermarkets had sold out!! Had to make a bloody stir fry instead

You would out survive us all in an apocalypse when there is only canned food and pickles left! 😂

Must produce plentiful flatulence 💨

Pasta shapes from a tin with a sliver hard boiled egg on top
