I really don't want to be a Jedi Knight anymore....

My 5 year old wakes up at 6.30 in the morning asking "who do you want to be: Luke or Obi-Wan?".I love being with him but I just want to spend time with him as his Mum not as his Jedi Master! What do I do? Should I wield my lightsaber and help him fight the dark side or just ignore this phase and hope he gets more sensible again soon? Do other Mum's find themselves drawn into battles in a galaxy far far away.....?

Sea, Lovely aren't they
Blisscake, not sure they turn into human beings per se, just more like smelly, grunting men but, with half a can of Lynx under each armpit.

aaaaaaagh my dh and ds (7) play lego star wars on the wii nearly every night and I have to suffer the what happened on the level conversation on the way to school in the morning
sisters at least I know I am not alone in my struggle against the force there are 160 farking levels in the game and they are only on 26

southeastastra · 10/01/2008 20:08

expensive and messy to keep. like horses

dustpan is good at scooping up the lego, but there's so much .

luckily unfortunately my pc wouldn't load the game

blisscake · 10/01/2008 20:35

Would I be the worst Mum in the world if I said, "I'm a bit bored, can we talk about something else now"?

blisscake · 10/01/2008 20:36

Imagine what it is like discussing whether you like Gabriella or Sharpay best. Or which songs you like best out of Soaring Flying and You are the music in me. Yaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
As Peaches says...........

No matter what the subject is once they have watched it more than 4 times you have an anorak on your hands.

(Its all High School Musical 1&2 btw)

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 20:46

I would kill to be a jedi. Right now I am Barney the Purple Dinosaur. And dd will only answer to the name PJ (Barney's little dinosaur friend if you're fortunate enough not to know.)

Blu · 10/01/2008 22:19

Lightweights.

I had to spend several days in role as the woman who narrates the Miffi video, talking in that voice and in the style of the text. In public, round town, in cafes, everything. I had to stop in the end because I was in danger of creating 'Miffi's Mummy's Massacre'. 'Oh look' said Boris, 'what a lot of heads on the grass, let's put them in my wagon'

HonoriaGlossop · 10/01/2008 22:23

oh blu you've just made me spray me lemon drizzle all over the keyboard

sweetkitty · 10/01/2008 22:23

DP would love a 5yo SW obsessed DS!

Today I have had to put batteries in my defective robot about 27 times and turn it back on by pressing it's nose and ears!

yurt1 · 10/01/2008 22:25

yes you need a brother. DS2 (6) and DS3 (3) wear the ikea blanket thing that has arm holes - and pretend to be padawans.

lilolilmanchester · 10/01/2008 22:54

I have a teen and pre-teen and have been feeling really sad that I won't ever have more babies. This thread has reminded me that I was looking back through rose-tinted glasses!!!

blisscake · 11/01/2008 14:33

Blu:

Yurt: will get his little brothers on board too - i like the padawan idea!

So glad to hear that there are other Mums who do this...

I have b/g twins aged almost 5. My son, is a real "little boy" who loves superheroes. It used to be Darth Vader and Obi Wan...now he is into Doctor Who and Yu Gi Oh. He got a Cyberman suit for Christmas, and actually thinks he is a cyberman when he wears it, whilst his sister and I have to be Rose Tyler and Martha Jones, with Daddy being Doctor Who (comes armed with a sonic screwdriver!!).

My sister has got him a Dalek suit for his forthcoming birthday, so my poor little girl will no doubt be getting "exterminated" on a daily basis.

BexieID · 12/01/2008 06:25

Tell him you are a Jedi Master Chef! I am one. See here.

blisscake · 12/01/2008 09:54

my dsses have decided their new years' resolutions are to make a new Star Wars film I keep being interuppted from my books with requests to make elaborate costumes along the lines of ''do you have a saw mum? CAn you chop this bike helmet in two as it will make a fab bobo fett mask....''

purplemonkeydishwasher · 12/01/2008 10:31

i'm truly truly frightened reading this thread. DS is 2 and i spend most of my day in various character roles (alicia from go diego, dylis from fireman sam, various mummy animals...and that was just yesterday)
i thought it might end soon but obviously this is it for the long haul.
i really need to have more kids...
