To be annoyed that an Insta-mum told DS3 to get out of her photo?

We're on an Easter trail. I get that, for lots of people, it's all about the photos. But seriously, there were A LOT of plastic tat photo oops available. DS3 is busy enjoying "trying to read" a sign, when Insta-mum comes up, kids in tutus, bends down to DS and tells him to get out of shot. Didn't even look around for a parent or whatever! I dutifully removed him, don't worry. Is she a CF, or is it just me not getting with the times??

Performance parenting vs Instagram mum. Both being unreasonable.

Would of swiftly told her to fuck off, and followed her around for the rest of the day telling her to fuck off
Basic bitch.

Tessabelle74 · 19/04/2022 18:41

I'd have set up camp in that exact spot and followed her to a couple more, but I'm a petty bitch

It's usually pretty obvious when someone is taking photos for the primary benefit of social media rather than mere family snaps for the grandparents to enjoy.

What’s obvious is that people choose to judge based on their own biases. People see what they want to see.

But surely it is obvious that this perfectly normal behaviour is not what people are being scornful of here. It is:
a) the rude people who expect everyone to move out of the way for them

Happened long before social media too.

b) the "fake" or "staged" shot where people are not just recording happy moments with their kids but are living their life entirely through their camera instead of living it

Again, not a new phenomenon. The only thing that’s changed is people are more judgemental of it nowadays in order to show how wonderful they are for how they do things.

@KittenKong

I’dve plopped myself down right in shot, scratching my belly with one hand and by backside with the other whilst pulling faces.

Can’t be doing with bloody Insta posers (we get them on our doorstep and along/in the street all the time around here). Mostly they are ok (well funny - all standing in the weird stanky leg pose, holding up armfuls of empty shopping bags, or pretending to be papped at they spring down the front steps), some growl at you to wait (when you are trying to put the bin bags out it get to work).

I once watched a mum and her child and nanny - and a handful of other children getting in and out of a taxi, walk to a front door just down from up with birthday balloons and bags, having photos taken (mum directing). I was waiting for a friend on the corner for about 20 mins so saw the whole show. Then they all got back into the taxi and drove off. So a staged birthday party?

Who looks at these staged shots anyway?

Seriously? What the hell!

This is why I'm not on Insta.

But if you're just taking a family snap, you aren't usually bothered if there is someone else in the background, as there generally are.

Oh I love people like this. There was someone at the gym I go to the other week who didn’t do a single bit of exercise and spent the entire time posing and taking photos. I did my best to get into every one with my worst gurning face while lifting weight. Must have taken her ages to photoshop me out.

planetme · 19/04/2022 19:50

Yanbu as these Instacunts are absolute dicks and they are represent so much that's wrong with the world today

I honestly hate them

Op I'm a gobby bitch and I'd have lost my shit at her, so well done for not

expat101 · 19/04/2022 19:50

A few “official” (read unknown to most) people are being outed where we live for their demands for free restaurant meals if they promote a venue on their outings and I think it’s not before time.

planetme · 19/04/2022 20:04

@Thewolvesarerunningagain

These photo trails are new to me. I booked one unwittingly after lockdown and we were pretty baffled that the ‘adventure woodland trail’ was literally a whole bunch of artfully arranged props that you could photograph your children in /on /near. For the same price we’d usually go somewhere with activities/rides/experiences on offer so we wandered about a bit flummoxed and then left. I feel old!
Yes! We took ours to a Halloween pumpkin picking event

And the "event" was basically what was effectively stage sets and photo props to take pics and then a few miserable over priced pumpkins
But it was clear the main event was the taking pics on hay bales etc

I just dont get it Confused

Remember a telly presenter, years before Instagram, telling my son to get out of shot at natural history museum cos they were filming. Stupid me moved him. Wouldn’t now.😡

Mulhollandmagoo · 19/04/2022 21:04

Come OP....spill the beans! Who was it 😏

yphtutor · 19/04/2022 23:26

Just rude! Some people have a lack of manners.

bellsbuss · 19/04/2022 23:36

She's lucky it wasn't my child she told to move as I would have told her where to go.

TiptowThroughTheToadstools · 19/04/2022 23:50

I wouldn't have moved him. In fact I may well have went and stood with him while he read the sign. Totally entitled behaviour and should not be encouraged

OMG12 · 20/04/2022 06:55

I really don’t get the whole instagram thing. Surely the vast majority of these photos are only seen by people who know you in real life and know you don’t look like this/dress like this/live in these places/have these interests in real life? Or does Shirley from number 52 really have a load of random followers who think she has this life.

pity for the kids though as they will grow up without having done anything apart from stand in various random places dressed in uncomfortable clothing being posed for photos to compensate for mummy’s insecurities about her life. Although tbh they”ll probably just see some random woman in these pictures and think who the fuck is that, it certainly doesn’t look like mum!the woman was a twat, just be grateful you’re not her.

PutsFootInIt · 20/04/2022 11:48

Anyone else carrying out their own private investigation into who the culprit is?

I actually thought I'd found the photos in question but then realised they were from Easter 2021 🙃

Having just spent more time looking at these 'mummy' influencer photos than I ever have before, it made me realise that although it must be really annoying having to pose for photos all the time, these kids do get taken to a lot of cool places.

Although I was in a park once and my SIL spotted an apparently well-known 'mummy influencer' and her and DH were on their phones the whole time ignoring their kids. It was very depressing.

Celendine · 20/04/2022 14:50

I would have gone photo bombed her picture just for doing that to a little toddler

myeyesneverstoprolling · 26/04/2022 20:13

All I can say is it's a good thing the CF didn't actually pick up the child. I would have went ballistic along with alerting the cops.
