To be annoyed that an Insta-mum told DS3 to get out of her photo?

We're on an Easter trail. I get that, for lots of people, it's all about the photos. But seriously, there were A LOT of plastic tat photo oops available. DS3 is busy enjoying "trying to read" a sign, when Insta-mum comes up, kids in tutus, bends down to DS and tells him to get out of shot. Didn't even look around for a parent or whatever! I dutifully removed him, don't worry. Is she a CF, or is it just me not getting with the times??

I love that you wrote, "photo oops". Isn't it just.

voleshuffle · 18/04/2022 16:47

It is called Main Character Syndrome, we are all just extras and have move out of the way for the star of the show. Arseholes.

SuchAsSeals · 18/04/2022 16:49

She should have waited her turn, but I suppose her time was too valuable to be polite. Hmm

QuebecBagnet · 18/04/2022 16:52

She needs to get a pixel pro phone. Dd has one and she can delete background people.

Agreeeeed · 18/04/2022 16:53

I think you did well to react very calmly.
How dare she treat your son like that.
I’m afraid I don’t think I would have responded as politely as this.
I do feel sorry for the dc of people like this though. I know everyone likes a cute photo of their child, but to me a photo should capture the magic of a moment, or the outing. A photo should not the sole focus/goal/aim of a visit somewhere, which it seems to be with some parents. Very sad.
These dc Are dragged through life like living props.
Are they ever allowed to just, well, be?
In a couple of years time when these dc are struggling with mental health problems due to never being allowed a minute to enjoy their life without a camera being waved in their face, maybe these photo obsessed mums will think about the price their dc have paid for these wonderful photos.

That only works (sometimes) if you know who they are and are a bit startstruck. If you're not at all into celeb culture, like me, and don't read gossip mags, you just don't know who these people are. I may know some actors, but certainly not all. The odd footballer, but only the really well known ones. I only tend to know who people are if others are staring at them. I would die laughing in a restaurant if the waiter asked me to move tables so a famous person could sit there instead.
Gowithme · 18/04/2022 16:57

You should have said 'Oh god I'm so sorry, I didn't realise this was your trail I thought it was for anyone to do.' Entitled cow. If you want a photo with no one in it then you wait for everyone to move out of it, you don't tell them to leave.

Yeah, I have a FB aquaintance who tends to post multiple (hundreds of photos) of each days out/holiday/Xmas/Easter etc of her daughter. The poor girl is only 4, she must be sick of being asked to pose while she's just trying to enjoy herself and play. Even something like making a cake - there are multiple photos of EVERY stage. The child smiling at the camera with the empty bowl in her hand and the packet mix on the table, the child stirring the bowl with concentration, another pouring liquid in. Another one licking the bowl.Another one posing for the camera with mixture smeared on her mouth. More of her looking through the oven door. Multiple ones of her decorating the cakes. Multiple ones of the cakes themselves on a plate. More of her presenting them to grandad. On and on and on. Usuallly ending with a last one of her asleep with the accompanying "ah, so tired after all her efforts". This is for every activity she ever seems to do. I want to tell her mother to stop treating her like a doll and just enjoy doing the activity with her, put the camera away for once.
Toottooot · 18/04/2022 17:12

If she was that important an ‘influencer’ she wouldn’t have been in with all the plebs. And would have been at a preview/invited guests event where she would have gleefully documented #ad #gifted - fud.

georgarina · 18/04/2022 17:23

Rude. Next time I would tell DC 'Finish what you're doing, she can wait.'

FairyPolkadot · 18/04/2022 17:23

How utterly self centred. I would not be able to resist following and commenting on the photo what happened.

Momijin · 18/04/2022 17:29

She should have waited

Quirk1 · 18/04/2022 17:33

You all need to stop asking me who it was... I want to tell, but am just #toonice 😆

On another subject, who else wants to know where KittenKong lives?!

JudgeJ · 18/04/2022 17:34

@Notbeinfunnehbut

Very entitled she could have waited for him to finish reading the sign
And the OP should have made sure that he took a looooooong time reading it, I detest people who do this. We were in a garden in CHina years ago and someone was trying to clear a 50m area to get her snap. I also detest those who are taking a snap on their phone and act like they're using a Hasselbald and they're David Bailey, it's an idiot proof point and press for heaven's sake!
godmum56 · 18/04/2022 17:35

YANBU that's very rude

@Quirk1

Well she wasn’t nice so expose 😂

Just go on her social media and tell everyone that she shoved a 3 year old out the way to get that shot 🥲😅

JudgeJ · 18/04/2022 17:38

@MintyMoocow

I’d have put my whole family in her next shot, pulling Moonies!

One of my favourite games is seeing how many Instagram shots/ selfies I can ruin.

You're me, aren't you! I love doing that, not the mooning sadly, there are limits, but spoiling photos is wonderful.

Ibleedibreedibreaatfeed · 18/04/2022 17:43

It's ok will pop over to the other place I'm sure it will be revealed!

Benjispruce4 · 18/04/2022 17:51

These are the people that post saccharine sweet images but spend the day bickering or looking at their phone for their ‘likes’, move on OP and enjoy your son.

Idonea · 18/04/2022 17:56

Shame no one spilled Ribena on her perfect little outfits. Would have been funny to watch her suddenly lose all interest in her kids once she no longer deemed then worthy of Instagram.

ThinWomansBrain · 18/04/2022 17:57

should have stood next to DS in front of sign, S L O W L Y spelling out each letter to help him read and understand the sign.
And beamed at her.

Mimijamroll · 18/04/2022 18:13

I find people constantly taking photos v irritating. If I'm walking through a tourist spot I do tend to carry on walking through someone's shot because usually I'll have done a lot of walking and am too tired to be arsed to stop.
