To ask how many Easter eggs have you eaten today?

lumos3 · 17/04/2022 18:13

Oh god.

I've had two and half Easter eggs, a creme egg and a small bag of chocolate buttons Blush

Awful I know. But I have the awful mentality that I should eat it all now rather than let it derail my healthy eating by eating bits every day. I know this is dysfunctional...I also find it hard to stop once I start.

Can anyone beat me?

Sorry @Quincythequince but I still maintain that you need to lighten up a bit, it’s just one day of indulgence and I’m pretty sure this was a lighthearted thread, at least that’s how I took it.

Quincythequince · 18/04/2022 12:55

Fair enough that’s your view.
I hope everybody enjoyed their chocolate, I wish I liked chocolate but I don’t and genuinely don’t understand its appeal either.

But it’s clearly not one day of indulgence is it, maybe it’s this one day for chocolate, but many over indulge regularly and I find comparisons to see who has eaten the most a bit odd.

Nosetickle · 18/04/2022 13:09

To be fair I wish I didn’t like chocolate so much! I think you’re actually lucky @Quincythequince that you’re not fussed about it, I find it very moreish and I do find it hard to stop once I start, which is why I tend to only buy it at Christmas and Easter and I really enjoy it on those occasions.

MurmuratingStarling · 18/04/2022 13:14

Oh FFS lighten up @Quincythequince you sound utterly insufferable! Hmm

No, not insufferable, like I said, I so don’t get it. But I wouldn’t eat a whole large pizza either, or an entire bag sweets, sharing bag crisps etc I will never understand how adults can do this - I would be sick. Kids yes, of course - that’s what kids do.
Quincythequince · 18/04/2022 13:25

And to be clear, I don’t care that other people do this, each to their own.
But I would never brag about consuming 100s of grams of any UPF in one go.

Maybe I’ve just never had really good chocolate. I tried what was described as two of the best Belgian chocolates by a Belgian, when last in Brussels, and honestly, I couldn’t eat it.
Nosetickle · 18/04/2022 13:30

Some adults can overeat, some kids can overeat. Some only overindulge on special occasions but some have a problem with it and struggle daily. We’re all different.

Nosetickle · 18/04/2022 13:35

You probably just don’t like chocolate@Quincythequince but surely you can understand that others do, not just kids, adults too. My children love haribo and could probably devour a packet of that in one sitting (don’t worry I don’t encourage that sort of behaviour!) but I would absolutely not be at all tempted to even have one as I think they’re disgusting, my DH loves crisps but I can take them or leave them.

lioncitygirl · 18/04/2022 14:06

None. Bit then again - I grew up in a family and a country with no chocolate easter eggs 🤣🤣

Exactly. That poster is coming across as horribly judgmental and pious.

Of course I know people like chocolate. Most people do obviously. But the equivalent is three eggs in one day!

I could think of a food I absolutely love - and I simply couldn’t eat that much of it.

I just couldn’t.

Nothing pious about not getting why this seems odd.

Sensory specific satiety kicks in as well which means that even if you love something you get sick of it.

That much in one day is just too much of the same thing; ignore the calories, fat, sugar etc.

I have three teen boys! Strapping big muscled lads and they wouldn’t do this either due to it being so sickly.

Really nothing judgemental about that tbh.

Quincythequince · 18/04/2022 16:51

Sorry nose you didn’t call me pious, but not being able to relate to this serious overconsumption of the same thing, is where I’m coming from.

A packet of Haribo doesn’t seem bad by comparison.

Quincythequince · 18/04/2022 16:52

Your kids and your DH sound like mine with their love of Haribo and crisps respectively.

I don’t care much for either (although I am partial to a licorice all sort or five)

PeonyRose80 · 18/04/2022 16:59

Ate a third of a nigella nutella cheesecake, so about a tub of philadelphia, a third a jar of nutella and about 7 digestives - it’s ok though, had some hazelnuts in it 😂

Nosetickle · 18/04/2022 17:39

@Quincythequince there’s something about chocolate (for chocolate lovers) that makes it difficult to stop even when you feel sick. It must seem strange if you aren’t like that or if you’re able to stop yourself when you’ve had enough. I suppose it’s addictive. I find Cadburys the worst for not being able to stop but it’s also my favourite, nothing else quite hits the spot for me which is tricky! I look forward to a splurge at Easter and Christmas but I’m usually very good and healthy normally and I’m an advocate of everything in moderation!

Now, this baffles me. If something is making me yucky I have to stop eating (or drinking) it. And IMO Cadbury's doesn't even taste of chocolate any more. It is just too sickly. I'm not a chocolate snob, but Cadbury's tastes nothing like other major brands of chocolate at all now. I can eat all other brands of inexpensive chocolate but Cadbury's is just horrible.

Nosetickle · 18/04/2022 18:05

It’s obviously just specific to me, there’s something in cadburys that I just can’t stop eating.

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 18/04/2022 18:07

All the kinds of comments you'd expect of MN are on this thread 🙈

Me well of course I didn't have any but I did allow myself three goji berries and a square of toilet tissue as a treat

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 18/04/2022 18:10

So don't then
Don't sneer at others who do though

Nosetickle · 18/04/2022 18:10

You really should have stopped at one goji berry @theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity, three is excessive. You should really have some self control.

OldTinHat · 18/04/2022 18:15

Not eaten a single one this year!

I know. I will undoubtedly learn from the well rounded fun individuals on this thread

Didn’t sneer! Getting a bit fed up saying this tbh.

But you keep stuffing your gin why don’t you.

Quincythequince · 18/04/2022 18:28

gob (not gin)
