New Nikes for 13th Birthday can't crease them!!!!

Mumzybear22 · 16/04/2022 12:59

So it was my daughter's 13th birthday and we bought her the latest Nikes. She loves them to bits ...won't wear them in case she creases them . Is this a thing? Apparently I should have bought them in a smaller size as squashed toes keep them crease free Hmm Anyone else have any teenage pearls of wisdom ?

If my child told me to buy shoes that squashed their feet to stop them creasing I’d certainly not be forking out the cash 😂

If she doesn’t want to wear them that’s up to her.

Comedycook · 16/04/2022 13:02

Oh yes, it's a thing. My ds 14 won't wear a pair of nikes he begged me for in case they crease. He wore them once and asked me if I could iron them for him Confused. He now doesn't wear them at all. Nearly a hundred quid Shock.

Notimeforaname · 16/04/2022 13:02

Yes it's a new things all the young people I work with keep screaming at me every time I bend dowm telling me I am creasing my runner and what will o do whwn everyone sees that Grin

You can buy protectors to put inside the shoes apparently

ForeverLooking · 16/04/2022 13:03

My niece (18) is exactly the same. Always buys a half size smaller to prevent creases Grin

BorisBooster · 16/04/2022 13:03

She'll grow into them.

I have no idea how teenagers work despite my DC being in their 20s 🤣

autumnboys · 16/04/2022 13:03

Yeah, not creasing trainers is a thing. I think you can buy inserts that help.

Comedycook · 16/04/2022 13:04

I suppose the only solution is buy them a new pair for every single day....then embrace bankruptcy Grin

Thers lots of different types.

RedHelenB · 16/04/2022 13:05

Nope. My kids wear their trainers every day.

Hollyhead · 16/04/2022 13:07

Surely it’s really bad for your feet to either have shoes that are too small or even don’t bend when you walk?!

Cockenspiel · 16/04/2022 13:08

The height of eco-doom! Buying trainers to look at but not wear 😂

BluntWithAC · 16/04/2022 13:13

It was a thing when I was a teen (10 sad long years ago) surprised teens still want to suffer cramped toes.

Tell your DD to make sure when she takes them off to stuff them with newspaper/socks etc it keeps the shape better and stops the crease forming especially with air forces, or practise crunched toe walking which I don't suggest personally, I still do it now as a bad habit.

worriedatthistime · 16/04/2022 13:17

Yes its a thing , bought my son some tings from amazon to go in so they don't crease

Sally872 · 16/04/2022 13:20

Just had a flash back to TOWIE "tall and reem" said Joey Essex Grin

SmallPrawnEnergy · 16/04/2022 13:21

I’m glad things like drinking, drugs, teenage pregnancy etc have gone down, and teens seem more “sensible” these days, but they’re poroper boring fucks now, getting upset and a crease in a shoe man Grin

MarriedThreeChildren · 16/04/2022 13:33

My son mentioned not a long ago about a trend like this. Said it was in the USA with people buying extremely expensive pair of trainers and then they didn’t want to damage/crease them up.
You also need to walk a certain way to avoid the creases. Hmm

Sad to see this has arrived here!

RosemaryRipple · 16/04/2022 13:38

Oh lord this drives me crazy with my teens! They have ‘crep protectors’ in their Jordan’s from Amazon… not sure they’re comfy, they do not care as long as they don’t crease.
Then I remind myself that pointy stilettos weren’t comfy either!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 16/04/2022 13:44

He wore them once and asked me if I could iron them for him 😂 brilliant!

Both of my teens have Jordans. DS was precious about them to start with but has relaxed after a few wears and the realisation that he can't stop them creasing if he wants to wear them. DD bought hers second hand because she doesn't give a crap about creasing them or getting them dirty...they were still expensive in my mind though!

MichelleScarn · 16/04/2022 13:47

Now back in the grungey 90s, 'new' looking trainers were the WORST! Remember people standing on them to get the beat up look!

nex18 · 16/04/2022 13:50

My teens have shoe trees for their trainers, helps reduce creasing apparently. They both say the things you wear inside are uncomfortable.

trussedchicken · 16/04/2022 13:51

It's a thing. Bought my 14 year old Nikes. Ended up losing my rag with her as she then proceeded to walk in them in a really weird way like she'd pooed herself 'in case they creased' Hmm

PriamFarrl · 16/04/2022 13:56

We all did stupid shit as teens but we didn’t do anything as stupid as this, surely.

LondonQueen · 16/04/2022 13:57

I used to iron mine back in the day! You can buy inserts that stop creasing which I imagine would be a lot easier.

QueenOfRap · 16/04/2022 14:05

Mine are always on at me "Don't do that! You'll crease them!"

When i was a teen, you had to be careful with new trainers as your friends would try to "christen" them by standing on your feet with dirty shoes.

dementedma · 16/04/2022 14:05

Jesus. So glad mine are grown up and this isnt a thing for them.
